You are probably aware by now that NeoGAF member 10K posted a huge info dump for the Nintendo NX platform stating that the console will be more powerful than the PlayStation 4. Well, popular blogger Emily Rogers has stepped into the thread via a friend (she doesn’t have an account) and has revealed that the information on the GPU and power level isn’t correct. She also says that the gimmick posted was actually made up.
Here is what multiple sources close to Nintendo are telling me about 10k’s hardware rumors: The gimmick is made up. GPU is wrong. Power level is wrong.” “The specs on NX are good, but a lot of the information being shared in this thread is incorrect.
I was told that NX has good specs, but the info in this thread on the GPU and power level is just not correct. Sorry to burst everyone’s hype.

Exactly! This is most likely someone trying to discredit 10k. Not to say that what 10k posted is correct but if Emily Rogers wanted to make a statement about what 10k said she would have done it through her Twitter account.

She debunked this in a tweet she made on her twitter, that is protected so only followers can see her tweets. The worst part is that My Nintendo News actually follows her on twitter, and yet this article was made.

Some dude named Penguin on Neogaf posted the quote that is in the article, claiming Emily said that since she doesn’t have a gaf account.
Then Emily proceeds to debunk that on twitter.
No, no. That’s 10k’s post, the last leak we had about the NX being polaris-based and having a wifi gamepad for streaming.
No. She asked this person to post for her. Sickr was negligent not to mention that. If you check one tweet earlier on the feed, you’ll see her asking that person to help her post this on NeoGAF.
And yet somehow, this same comment you are referring to was debunked by none other than herself she debunked it on twitter.

This is very simple: She contacted Rosti to help her get her message on NeoGAF, and then he posted it on NeoGAF. Anyone with access to her Twitter feed can see this. 10k’s posts about the NX (specifically this most recent one) was highly inaccurate, and that’s the story she’s sharing. The end.
1. Rosti did not post her comment on Neogaf, it was Penguin who did.
2. I will admit, she did want to get something posted on Neogaf since she didn’t have an account, that much is true. But as a person who happens to have access to her Twitter feed, I can also see that she publicly debunked this in a separate tweet (https://twitter.com/ArcadeGirl64/status/721939447139291136).

That much is true.
On topic, I’m actually with 10k on this. Unless Emily elaborates, I don’t see how her info can be right. The NX has to be at least on par with the PS4, and for that to happen while having ‘industry leading chips’, they need the 14nmFF Polaris (fits with the AMD rumor). Backporting features to a 28nm processor doesn’t make any sense, since it’s cheaper to just use Polaris.
This is the quote from 10k’s source:
“So far I know this: Polaris architecture as a base, mixed with Fiji, low power consumption, raw power numbers are modest increase, performance for optimized games for NX would be easily 2x PS4 performance.”
Too many things fall in line with this info, I can’t believe Emily until she explains what she means in more detail.

Yeah, that’s true. Although the Wii U didn’t have any originally Wii projects ready for launch, unlike (presumably) the NX.

I was thinking about games like Pikmin 3 or Star Fox Zero, which were originally planned for the Wii but never came to fruition for one reason or another. The NX could (more like will) get Zelda U, Luigi’s Mansion 3 and Retro’s new game, whatever that is. Imagine if the Wii U had that on launch, it would have done better.

It might be that. I’m more inclined to believe that they were working on something for the Wii U that was later moved to the next console, given how they teased the announcemens on their Twitter account.

The thing is this has been happening since consoles been invented. Always rumors flying around with 99.9 % of them are incorrect.
Yeah, but there’s no harm in trying to unravel if that 0.1% is true, right? As long as you know how to keep your hype in check, I mean.

The good news is that we know briefly about the Nintendo NX…
* More powerful than PS4
* Possibility of the NX using Vulkan API GPU
* Japanese third parties supporting the NX
* Third party games in 2017
* NX games powered by Unreal Engine 4 and Unity (with more to come)
No one knows anything true about the console yet, honestly. They’ve literally only announced a name, and people have gone crazy with rumors about it, despite there being NOTHING to go off from. I really dislike that MyNintendoNews in particular keeps reporting literally ALL of these rumors, even if there’s no credibility whatsoever, and it’s really turned me off a bit from the site itself…
Just wait for E3 if you want any sort of reasonable information, otherwise you’ll be disappointed with the most likely impossible rumors that have been created.
The good news is I’m not over-hyping it over nothing. A grain of salt is the only solution. At least Nintendo will have the final answer at E3 including the final name of their new unified system.
The thing is people are going to expect that the specs are going to be given. If Nintendo don’t give it then people are going to come up with more speculation lies and rumors.
We can still make educated guesses. Everything N-Dub posted has a high probability of becoming true. Nothing is certain, obviously, but there’s a decent chance.
But it’s much more difficult to make an accurate educated guess with Nintendo. It’s hard to tell what they’re planning most of the time to be honest (although I’d really love to say know what Nintendo is planning on doing right now).
Most of the stuff he said is what I *hope* is the case, but that’s my whole point. I’m not trying to say that he’s wrong for reading these rumors and hoping that they’re real, but I am criticizing MyNintendoNews for posting almost all slightly possible rumors regarding the NX. There’s a certain line here in terms of how many rumors they’re posting, and they crossed that weeks ago.
Sure, I agree with everything you mention, generally speaking. I see this articles as a way to generate discussion more than anything else. It’s good for the brain.
The only thing I’ll be disappointing by is if we don’t get a Luigi’s Mansion 3 at some point, if it’s a launch title that’s just icing on the cake.

This is why rumors should never be taken to heart. A lot of people are going to start believing a lot of false things about how amazing the NX will be, and how super powerful it will be etc. Then when Nintendo FINALLY stops the secrecy and reveals the true NX details, many people are going to be super disappointed if the real specs doesn’t measure up to the rumors. I’m sure the NX will be awesome, but I think we should all wait to hear OFFICIAL NX news before getting over-excited.
I mean, at least we didn’t take it to 8K resolution, 120 fps native, all major third parties, and all these promises of new games
