There’s A New Donkey Kong Arcade All-Time Highest Score World Record

Wes Copeland has achieved the all-time record for the highest score in the classic arcade game Donkey Kong. Copeland got the world record in January, then lost it in April to Robbie Lakeman. The record now stands at 1,218,000 points. Copeland’s January record was 1,190,000 points, and Lakeman’s April record that broke Copeland’s was 1,190,200 points.

You can check out his full run, three and a half hours long, below. There is no sound, however, so don’t expect much in the way of audio. As for what the future holds for Wes Copeland, it won’t be with Donkey Kong. He made a Facebook post announcing that this would be his last attempt at setting a record in the game, explaining that “I don’t believe I can put up a game any higher than this”. Robbie Lakeman’s response was a reflection on his own abilities, admitting that he’s “good enough, but not lucky enough”.
