Investigative journalist Emily Rogers has revealed that the Nintendo NX will not be using x86 architecture like current consoles and will not be a tour de force when it comes down to graphical fidelity. Rogers says that those of you who are expecting the Nintendo NX to match the PlayStation NEO will be disappointed and the console is more comparable power-wise to the Xbox One.
After speaking to seven different people this week, I can say with confidence that this is false. NX is not using x86 architecture like PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The NX has special, custom-made chips and the overall design of the hardware is very modern. The chips are industry leading because they are very modern chips, but having modern chips doesn’t necessarily mean Nintendo is aiming to create the most powerful hardware on the market. Furthermore, any NX rumors on “Polaris chips” and “Polaris architecture” are all wacky. There’s a good reason why those rumors are wacky.
In terms of raw power, numerous sources tell me that NX is much closer to Xbox One than PlayStation 4. Even that might be stretching it a tiny bit. Anyone who is claiming that NX is “two times the power of PS4 GPU” is being misled by their sources. Based on what I’ve heard, I don’t believe the NX will compete directly with PS4 (Neo) / PS4K in raw power.
There will be plenty of debates over the NX’s specs because it’s not simple to directly compare two apples (with x86 architecture) to an orange (that doesn’t use x86 architecture). But everything that I’ve heard (so far) indicates that NX isn’t going to blow away any of the consoles on the market today…except for Wii U.

Well if the rumors can be believed, the upgrade that ps4 is getting will be unprecedented. From what I’ve read on the beo, it’ll be capable of much more than the base system. In fact people suspect that sony will require developers to have two modes to each of their games: a base mode and a neo mode so that games can run on both systems.
Aw, darn… and I just bought a massive PS4 too :P Even the NES, SNES, and Sega Genesis/MegaDrive got that treatment… The mini SNES was actually my first console lol

Not slim devices. Both Xbox and PS have leaked and filed patents as well as passing comments refering to .5 devices. (like a NEW 3DS) a slightly more powerful device able to handle better load times, multi task, up rez to 4K, and possibly offer mew features such as USB C, new Bluetooth, diskless, or other things. Even Xbox is going o replace it’s current core controller (possibly with small screen, NFC, have optional Bluetooth, and charge using USB C) so its ighly likely especially if they know Nintendo might have a more powerful system coming. So its pretty much bin all but confirmed. Speculated E3 might have new Xbox, and Tokyo game show for NX and ps4k

Power isn’t everything. It irks me that a lot of people are clamoring for the latest graphics and the fastest processor, when those aren’t what makes a game great; It’s the experience it provides, and those components only serve to improve it in some cases.
Most of my fondest [gaming] memories have been playing games that weren’t the most realistic or the highest frame rate, but rather the most charming, and focused on the characters and gameplay and the overall experience it provides. And guess what? All of them were Nintendo games or games on the Nintendo systems.
Even then, Nintendo had shown you can squeeze out more of their consoles than most developers put forth the effort for, all it takes is some ingenuity.
Funny how the only people that say “power isn’t everything” is mostly the people that think the Wii was an all around success simply because it made Nintendo millions of dollars. Power IS everything in the video game world. It always has been. Nintendo simply lost their way thanks to a bunch of fickle casuals that hopped onto the Wii simply because it was a little fad, like the term “bling bling” being overused in the early 2000s. Wii was lightning in a bottle. It won’t happen ever again now that casuals have their smartphones & tablets for mobile games. Time to go back to their old slogan: Now you’re playing with power! Hopefully Wii U failing in the long run has smacked some sense back into Nintendo. If not, they’ll be the next Konami in a decade or two & hated by anyone that isn’t obsessed with mobile gaming.
Once again if power was what people wanted, there would be no Nintendo, Microsoft, Sony, Sega, Atari, Neo Geo, TurboGrafix, Apple P!ppin and the other consoles I miss being on the market. Everyone would just play on PCs. If power was everything, no one would have bought the Wii U or Xbox One. If power was everything, people would have wanted for the next generation of consoles since this generation is very weak in the hardware department. Power is a buzzword. A marketing ploy. People love falling for it. They been falling for it over 4 decades of video gaming.
You’d be right if not for one major thing: cost. It’s cheaper to buy a powerful gaming console than a powerful gaming PC. If gaming PCs were around the same price as PS4, Xbox One, & Wii U, you’d have a point.
It is not as expensive as you think. Also, you come out cheaper in the long run because of the price of games. You take a 5 year cost of owning a PC versus a 5 year cost of owning a console and your value will be with a PC. Power is nice but it is just a buzzword like “epic”, robust, unprecedented, fun, or any other marketing ploy.

The Wii was a success not for how much it made (though it WAS a financial success), but for the broad appeal and it’s vast library. You’re right, some of those gamers are satisfied with their smartphone games these days; it’s partially why the Wii U didn’t sell as well (others are those who would of bought one didn’t because of poor marketing control lead to retailers marketing it as a $300+ Wii accessory, turning away a majority of the “family” market; and those who value specs over overall value.)
But even before the Wii their consoles long weren’t the most powerful, nor the most advanced. But Nintendo kept making money and selling games so something was right; Success does not equate to being the “all around best” in every area. Financially it means a profit is turned, and to the market it seems to it means it’s something that’s enjoyed. The GameCube was considered an all around flop yet it still made money and to this day people still enjoy it’s games.

It’s not a phobia to not support a creative choice. I’ll try to ignore your passive aggressiveness and just answer your question. I’d hate voice acting for Zelda because it just doesn’t fit the franchise. The Zelda universe feels otherworldly and very detached from the real world. With voice-acting characters will suddenly be American (or Japanese or English or whatever). The rhythm in their voice, their accent and their tone; it’s all very country specific. It drags the franchise right down to the real world when it had a unique, understated quietness about it. No voice acting is part of the franchise’s voice. It combines the cinematic visuals of a movie with the “up to your own imagination” nature of a book.
Zelda CD-i & Zelda cartoon has people worried voice acting will ruin Nintendo’s Zelda games. Otherwise, there is no other reason why people should be against voice acting in a fantasy world. I can name a bunch of fantasy based movies that don’t seem any less fantastical because people are speaking English or something. It’s just a cop out.

Why does people try predicting ANYTHING? If any of her so-called “sources” are really telling any kind of truth, then that would mean that someone on the inside at Nintendo is leaking confidential information, and should be fired. The NX failing will not cause them to leave video games. It would take more than that. They would need years of continuous losses which they do not have. Nintendo makes a profit. They average making a profit of 400 million a year. So how can NX be a make or break it console for them.
Reputation, tre, reputation. No amount of money in the world can save your company if your reputation is utterly damaged beyond repair. I’m sure Sega had a moderate amount of money to continue making consoles, too, but their reputation for consoles was so badly damaged they knew it’d be a waste of money to try again.
People seem to forget. Nintendo has sold 69 million handheld and home consoles. Yes, that is smaller than the previous generation. While the home console install base has decreased every generation other than the Wii, the handheld install base has increased other than the 3DS. So Nintendo’s reputation is not in trouble. Sega was not posting profits but loses and that’s why they are not in the handheld or home console business. Very different situations that are not comparable at all. The internet is not the completeness of Nintendo’s reputation. There are millions of people who don’t even go online for video game news. They don’t know and don’t care what is going on with the product they buy. They buy a product use a product and move on to the next product. Now with that out of the way, Nintendo do need to find a way to increase their install base on both the home and handheld consoles. What people don’t realize is that there are 10’s of millions of people who have not upgraded from the Wii, Xbox 360, or PS3. I can only speak of the people I know and I don’t know how that translate to the rest of world but I personally know 40 households that have not upgraded their consoles yet. All for different reasons. Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft are missing some consumers out there. This generation is on track to be smaller than last generation home and handheld consoles.

Sega was essentially bankrupt after the Dreamcast. They were over 50 million in debt and had virtually no net assets left in 2001. This was after 3 straight horrendous failures (Genesis CD add-on, 32X add-on, Saturn console). It’ll only take 3 or 4 more console generations before Nintendo reaches this point.
That would be if they have loses with the failures.

I think she just picked an opportune time to make some more rumors. Nintendo just said that they weren’t going to show the NX at E3, so of course, a lot of fans are probably getting a little (or a lot) more irritated and fidgety since a lot of use where banking on seeing something NX related a E3. Because of this, there are probably fans out there who are going to be more keen to listen to this kind of stuff because its all the have to discuss and grab onto for now. Honestly, I believe very much so that Nintendo isn’t bringing a system that can rival it’s competition. There is no console war because Nintendo isn’t in that fight anymore.
I can easily see this being a reality. And it would very likely be the end of any major support from me.
Maybe us older fans just need to accept the strong possibility that the Nintendo we grew up with died the moment Wii made them a huge profit. Like a few others before them, a shitload of money gained in only a few short years has corrupted them.

I just think that after GameCube Nintendo kind of might have said something along the lines of “technologically, we can’t overcome the competition, let’s just focus on pushing our games and hard ware” while I have no proof of this, it just feels that way to me. The Nintendo I grew up with is the same company now that it was when I purchased my Nintendo Entertainment System or even further the same company that made Donkey Kong and Mario Bros in the arcades.
True. I think that the Wii U’s mediocrity was kind of a slap in the face to Nintendo after that. Hopefully that slap in the face grounded them enough to learn that gimmicks can’t compete with a solid, long lasting, gameplay experience in the long run.
Despite all my bitching, I’m still waiting cautiously with bated breath to see what Nintendo has in store. I am inclined, however, to believe that Nintendo is still seeking out that ever elusive casual crowd. I can’t exactly blame them, the N64 and GameCube finished second and third, respectfully, despite being powerhouses for their time. They struck out big time with the Wii U, but it’s hard I imagine for them to forget the astronomical success of its immediate predecessor. Honestly, persuing the casual crowd is not a downright terrible idea. I for one have so many demands on my time that I often only have time to play casually. The problem is that Nintendo just doesn’t know how to be cool anymore. It’s literally a bunch of grandpas trying to market their product and come across as edgy to teenagers (witness Miitomo). It hurts to watch. As Nintendo fumbles to find its footing, I can’t help but think that it just can’t be that hard. If any company is positioned to have its cake and eat it too, it’s Nintendo. Develop a system that’s powerful enough to compete with Sony and Microsoft. Build and strenthen strategic partnerships with third parties (I’m talking sucking some serious third party dick). I’ve always argued that Nintendo’s relationships with japanese devs like Square Enix and Capcom have deep roots and should be capitalized on. And let established first party franchises like Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Fire Emblem, Pokemon, Donkey Kong, and Kirby continue to sell the system. If Nintendo wants to release a bunch of party and casual games on top of that, whatever. More power to them. Nintendo could be more of a video game juggernaut than it already is, but it’s lost its sense of vision that would allow it to do so.

Kid Icarus on the 3DS was great and it also had a freaking animated video but now nobody talks about it and there’s no knowing if we’ll ever have another game in the series again. Don’t even get me started on Metroid and F-Zero. Nintendo has done a lot of good things but the shit doesn’t help highlighting that. Amiibo festival, would rather play with a bunch of painted rocks. Oh yeah they murdered Paper Mario too, dumbing it down for the kids who don’t like RPGs. Mario is still good but it’s kinda the same thing most of the time and pretty hard to mess up. Pokémon is made by Game Freak so they don’t really count.
They have a lot to work on in other words before they can expect any support from other developers. At least for their main console. Let’s hope they can make it successful and MAYBE they can even make another successful handheld. MAYBE! Star Fox wasn’t that saviour tho. And that’s too bad. I had such high hopes for it.

Because when they tried to expand the universe and give more personality so that they can make more games off of it made Other M. But it still stands, they are in the same case as Captain Falcon, they got simply a lucky break because they’re getting dragged by the new Fire Emblem. Mr. Game and Watch is older than Mario himself. He obviously has popularity. Duck Hunt Dog was already wanted so he can get his cocky grin smashed in with a fist. Wii Sports sold ridiculously well on the Wii so Wii Fit Trainer is seen as more of the “odd” choice than “choice nobody knows about”. Wasn’t Lucario and Greninja already in an front runner? So it doesn’t really matter if they aren’t cared about that just makes them more popular.

I could easily see this being true, with whatever their “industry leading chips” referring to being the one thing that makes NX easy to port to or something. To be honest I wouldn’t expect Nintendo to be in the lead as far as power goes unless Kimishima was thinking like GCN days and made them beef up what was already planned in a strong effort to reach “core gamers”. I would LOVE a super powerful console from Nintendo with full 3rd party support but if it ends up falling a bit behind Xbox One spec-wise I hope it’s at least is cool and current enough to catch on and build a great library… Either way time will tell.

I will say this though. This rumor better not be true. Not after Nintendo has made us wait this long for even a smidge of information. If this were true, they should have already told us a while ago that the NX would be weaker or on par with current gen. At this point, everyone is expecting some sort of grand spectacle. If they made us wait this long and then find out it’s just Wii U all over again, people will not be happy about it. You don’t just build up hype as much as they have, directly or indirectly, and then just reveal something unimpressive. If this rumor is true, they should have just let the Wii U live another few years and worked on something more powerful. Third party showed Nintendo they don’t want wacky controllers and underpowered consoles with different architectures. I would sincerely hope Nintendo learned that lesson. The Wii U was a very hard lesson to learn. Surely they’re not that dense and think they can do the same thing again. Then again, Nintendo isn’t the sharpest tool in the shed these days. Same here. It also depends on how Nintendo intends to use what the put into the console. I mean, I don’t know too much about specs and all that, but I feel like we need to actually see the console running a game before we have the full picture of what its capable of. The Commodore4 64 never claimed to have a 64 bit processor. It was an 8-bit processor. The 64 was for 64kb of memory, but you could only access about 52kb of it if I remember correctly.

The NX will be to PS4 and XBO what WiiU is to PS3 and XB360 in terms of power … as in, ‘almost, but not quite’ as powerful. As always, they will lean heavily of the defining functions of the new harware and their own studios to show off what it can do.
Anyone thinking “I will not buy an NX unless it is equal or greater in power than PS4Neo”, has already decided to not give Nintendo a chance again before even playing the games … because it Won’t be. This has been well known since the WiiU launched, YEARS ago. This is well documented Fact.
Technically, the architecture makes them difficult to compare. Some numbers are higher, others are lower … but overall, there are some graphical things WiiU just can’t recreate that the PS3 and 360 could do .. while at the same time, the architecture of the WiiU makes optimising some of those old games easier in some cases, allowing some ports to look better in their WiiU versons … but others Not.
There were early exagerations before the WiiU launched that made it sound much more powerful … but the reality of the limits of what it can actually do are pretty much Last-Gen parallel, on average.

That is false. For one they still at this moment do not know what the Wii U GPU comprise of. They never could figure it out so most gave up on trying to figure it out. The only thing that was figured out was the CPU which is clocked lower but more efficient. The issue with the Xbox 360 and PS3 ports to Wii U was they tried to port a CPU developed game to a GPU developed console. If they tried that with the Xbox One and PS4, they would run into the same type of errors but in a different way.

It is because the power just isn’t THERE to be tapped into, by comparison. The Project Cars team TRIED. They tried and tried until they rage-quit because it just didn’t Work.
The Assasins Creed Games looked about equal to the last Gen versions, proving Ubisoft knew how to use the hardware, but looked NOTHING like the Current gen versions. And Watchdogs looked way worse on WiiU, because it just couldn’t do it.
WiiU is roughly equal to PS3 and 360 (better in some aspects, worse in others). This can be definitively concluded, NOT by comparing unknown numbers on a graph, but by simply looking at what developers were actually able to DO with what was there in the end. WiiU games look and run like 360 games, and NOT like XBO games. Bayonetta 2 looks almost the same as Bayonetta 1, which looks 98% identical to the 360 version.

No, what I am saying is this generation of consoles are GPU based while last generation CPU based. Wii U is not roughly equal to PS3 and 360. It is more powerful and more efficient than PS3 and 360. Take a look at the Black Flag comparisons videos for PS4, Wii U, and Xbox One. You do know the developers didn’t use all of the cores for the Wii U and also did not use the edram. I will revisit my research. If you want to you can research the topic more. There is a lot of reason games were not as impressive on the Wii U with the launch titles as well as the other titles. Also, Assassin Creed was not built from the ground up on Wii U.

No one said it is a PS4. PS4 is no PC. PC is no Xbox One. PS4 is no Wii U. They just video game consoles except PC that plays games. That is their purpose.

As for graphics, no one has ever asked Nintendo to compete with PC graphics, so that is just a terribly lame argument. Their graphics should compete with PS and Xbox. And Nintendo USED to be in that market. They used to have some of the higher powered consoles. The last two generations they didn’t, but that’s only two generations compared to all the other ones they were a part of. And the whole stupid affordability argument holds zero water. Xbox One and PlayStation 4 were both more expensive than the Wii U, and guess what? In less time on the market, both of them blew the Wii U out of the water in sales, especially the PS4. Gamers want, gamers buy. Gamers no want, gamers no buy. Price will not stop a majority of gamers if they want a new console.
The last two Nintendo Consoles that were the graphics power leaders (N64 and Gamecube) fell behind in sales compared to the competition. Their console that was massively underpowered (Wii) sold ridiculous numbers of units.
You are looking at this from the perspective of what YOU think they Should do.

People who were Nintendo fans back in the NES and SNES days want to see Nintendo take over the world again, and just become THE place to play the best version of Latest, Greatest Multiplatform FPS/TPS AND the new Mario and Zelda games at the same time … and have all the same voice chat and leaderboards and other network features the other consoles have.
But if Nintendo just becomes exactly the same as Sony and Microsoft … what reason would they even have to EXIST?
I’d rather see Nintendo just barely get by, trying weird things while staying third place in sales, than become the harware standard, but lose the soul that made me love them in the first place. A version of history where the Virtual Boy never existed, and they never made Mario Maker or Splatoon to show off the value of the Gamepad … where there was never a Powerglove, or a Supescope or the Hey You Pikachu microphone, or a console with a handle, or the Wiimote … would be a much less fun world of gaming to live in. I like that last line. NX is just Nintendo’s next generation console. PS4/PS Neo is just Sony’s current gen consoles with an upgrade to help stimulate more console sales and VR sales. Xbox One is Microsoft’s current generation console. We do not know what their plan is at the moment other than they want you purchase both Xbox One and Windows 10 and they want you to stay in their ecosystem. Any other expectation will be a disappointment.
i thought Windows 10 was free? Or was that only for a limited time? I kept getting requests to update to Windows 10, but refused. I hat Windows 8, so I’m not going past it. I would rather go back to Windows 7.

How do I like this commentary multiple times? Absolutely brilliant! It’s a resume of the disillusioned Nintendo fanboy or hardcore game willing to NX to be just a powerful machine with a regular controller and the Nintendo logo on it and Mario games to play on it, this wouldn’t be a Nintendo console, people that consumes Nintendo products are expecting more than Mario and stuff, they’re expecting something new in terms of gameplay and interface. The Wii U failure is far beyond hardware power and marketing, but design errors and the lack of delivering what the Nintendo consumer wants, really new gameplay experiences and interface, despite us seeing Wii U getting excellent games, Nintendo relied too much in formulas that we’ve seen before, specially in successful 3DS games.
NX’s success will depend of what kind of gameplay Nintendo want to show us and the content that they will use to demonstrate this gameplay.
Had the 3DS taken off from the beginning, the Wii U would have had more games. They had to concentrate on the 3DS. The handheld business produces more money than home consoles. This was true even in the DS and Wii generation. Nintendo is never the same every generation. They don’t want to be the same. Like you said, I don’t want them to be the same. All I want is to play video games. I have never played a game and wondered if the hardware or controller was like “X” company with “X” power I could play it like this. One problem. 6 years was it’s lifespan on the market, not the years it remained the go-to gaming device. PS3, Xbox 360, PC, smartphones, & tablets started to steal it’s thunder, and userbase, after 4 years when the console started to leave the limelight and the Wii quickly went from the primary gaming device in the house to the secondary device at best. I guess the more correct thing to say is Wii’s motion control was the fad. Once that wore off, Wii took a turn for the worst. They tried to fix that with Wii Motion Plus but it was too little, too late. I’m sure there is someone that could explain my point better than I can as I tend to ramble after a certain point.

The Wii is still sold to this day. A worker of mine just bought one for a replacement of theirs. Fads are short lived. The wii was not short lived. Wii was just a popular product that sold well for a long time. It was still going strong after those 4 years as it was only in the 90 millions after 4 years and is at 102 million or close to that now. It had right 100 million during its 5th or 5th year.

Emily Rogers is a brilliant journalist and an excellent game blogger, but relying on posting NX rumors all the weeks can be dangerous for her credibility. I’m glad it’s happening to because they can end the pretense that they care about lazy greey 3rd party developers and the sheep that buy their yearly crappy iterations. They don’t need dudebros like they thought they did when they tried to appeal to them with the Wii U.
I had a blast reading your comment. It was pure Nintendo fanboy outrage. It’s one thing that you consider Wii U having better quality exclusives than PS4 and Xbox one combined, which is wrong, but you’re also making an objective testable matter of hardware computing power in a subjective console fanboy war opinion, which doesn’t set a good present for the rest of your rant. At the end you both didsrespect yourself and taint the credibility of Nintendo gamers as you have the nerve to say “There’s nothing wrong with the Wii U”, and the stuff that follows it afterwards. It’s a general opinion Wii U has nothing worth playing except smash and maybe Star Fox and Donkey Kong for a reason. Nintendo hasn’t given a fuck about the Wii U and it’s very obvious. Nintendo has barely bothered with 3rd party devs. The reason these are important is because if you don’t have other devs who can release good games around the year you get what’s called “droughts”. That word sums up Wii U in a nutshell. Compared to sony and microsoft, each by themselves, Nintendo has less 3rd parties developing big IP games. The only ones worth mentioning are Platinum games and retro studios. That’s it. Two 3rd parties isn’t enough in this day and age. There was a time where games was so quick and cheap to make Nintendo could release games like fire, back then they also had many 3rd parties and little competition. Obviously they haven’t been able to adapt to Sony and Microsoft’s entrances. The Wii U is the first home console from Nintendo in the 3D ages, without a true 3D Mario game. I’m sure people like you will go “BUT 3D WORLD”, because that shit shares anything remotely close to galaxy, SM64 and sunshine in gameplay rite? BrokeBack
Wii U is already losing support from Nintendo themselves and they’re becoming the worst case scenario when it comes to shipping out console after console trial and error this far in. WIi lost support half a year after Wii U released. PS3 still has full online support. I expect Wii U to fall down the same hole once NX comes around. They will throw aside their shitty consoles that several people chose to support, despite how shitty it turned out while the likes of Sony on the other hand maintains the support for lastgen and choose to rather let people have the opportunity to keep their PS4s longer and just buy games, by releasing the NEO to keep up, rather than throwing everything aside to make way for another underpowered, compared to PC, piece of plastic like PS5. When Wii came out I jumped from PS2 to that shit instantly, I jumped on release area Wii U as well, but no more. Sony is the one that has consistently proven I should’ve contiued to put my support there, which I did and got PS3 late last gen and PS4 very recently. Yet N64 was the first home console I tried getting me into gaming to begin with.

Blind ignorance. I’ve been mainly a Nintendo gamer my whole life. But I want them to compete in power. To assume that all Nintendo fans have the same mentality you do is pure arrogance. I grew up with Mario as you said, but I still like third party games. I loved the original Halo. I loved Devil May Cry. Twisted Metal. A person can like Mario and still like games like these. The abysmal sales numbers of the Wii U shows your augment that Nintendo has yet to make a console that failed its fans to be quite false. Drought upon drought upon drought. That’s what the Wii U has been. Nintendo releases very few games for the Wii U, so if you don’t like what is released at the time, you have to wait even longer for a game that you do enjoy. And did you honestly say Nintendo tried to appeal to dudebros (I’m not one of them by the way) with the Wii U? That is a bold faced lie. Aside from a few old ports at launch, how many games could be considered dudebro games on the Wii U? You’re clearly a major Nintendo fanboy. One of the absolute retards that says all third party companies are lazy and only do yearly releases. There are many great third party companies. Just because they want nothing with your beloved Wii U, doesn’t mean they suck. It means Nintendo sucks at getting them on board (EA aside due to their BS). A true Nintendo fan wants great Nintendo exclusives AND the great third party games out there. And a person who wants to be taken seriously should not immediately attack others. But since you want to attack someone for their opinion, I feel more than glad to return the favor. And the fact that you think the install bases of the Wii U and 3DS will automatically equate to a 75 million install base for the NX is laughable. That’s not how it works. Not to mention many Wii U owners are pissed at Nintendo, and if they see Nintendo repeating their mistakes with the Wii U, they will not be buying an NX. Pointless for Nintendo to compete in power? They used to. For different reasons, they started losing sales. Don’t think that the Wii was the rule. It was the exception. Eventually people got tired of motion controls. A large amount of gamers just went a regular controller. The Wii U carried on the Wii legacy, and as a result, it bombed hard. To say otherwise, as I said in the very beginning, is just blind ignorance. Did some people love the Wii U? Yes. But a lot more people didn’t. Some people seem to think Nintendo can’t have both great exclusives AND high power. If Nintendo went at it with a high high powered console with no wacky inovations, and have a serious effort at marketing it properly (as in no stupid family and kid commercials) and demonstrated they were after core gamers for real this time, they could absolutely compete with Microsoft and PlayStation. They both came in and knocked Nintendo on its ass. Why can’t Nintendo, who has been around a lot longer in gaming, do the same thing? They have great exclusives. Combine that with awesome third party games, and they can certainly attract gamers back. Just because you are satisfied with mediocrity doesn’t mean Nintendo is doing good. They have their infamous warchest with billions. Doesn’t mean diddily squat if they continue to lose sales. Investors will not allow them to continue making consoles that are underwhelming in sales. Nintendo need gamers. Gamers don’t need Nintendo. People like you can talk all the shit you want about people like me. People like me though aren’t attached to Nintendo like they’re our family member. And we will leave Nintendo after being burned so many times. And then people like you will cry when Nintendo is forced to leave the console business because too many people are like me and abandoned a sinking ship. So yes. Let Nintendo continue to spurn people and try to keep “innovating” instead of giving people like me (people who have been loyal for over two decades mind you) what we want. See where that gets you. Nintendo tries to pull a Wii again, yeah, maybe the fickle casuals come back out of curiosity. But gamers will not be fooled again. Thus the console will not get Wii sales numbers. And if they don’t even get the casuals? The amount of sales will be anemic.
All that in mind, I want Nintendo to succeed. I want them to do what people like me have been asking for since shortly after the Wii. If they do, I’ll gladly continue to support Nintendo. But this is their last chance. As is, I am not buying at launch after getting burned so bad with the Wii U. Here’s hoping Nintendo does as I have suggested. If they do as you want, I’ll gladly piss in their grave.

Anyone else thinks that these “investigators” or “leakers” are just using you all for fame and views for their social media?
