A report provided by Yahoo Japan states that Nintendo’s next portable system is currently codenamed MH. While it’s not clear what the MH stands for it could simply mean Mobile Hardware. The report suggests that the MH and NX are separate platforms. We know that Nintendo is targeting a March 2017 release for their NX platform.

You’ll have to remind me the exact Kimishima quote. As I understand it, it might be a brand-new concept in the same way the GameCube was a brand-new concept compared to the N64.
This was from the investor meeting that revealed the launch date.

He also siad this is another interview.
“That being said, I can assure you we’re not building the next version of Wii or Wii U. It’s something unique and different.”
This one is from Iwata when he first announced the NX.
“Though I cannot confirm when it will be launched or any other details of the system, since I have confirmed that it will be ‘a dedicated video game platform with a brand new concept,’ it should mean that we do not intend it to become a simple ‘replacement’ for Nintendo 3DS or Wii U.”
As you said, this could just mean that it will be different from the Wii and Wii U; but to me, especially in that first quote, “brand new concept” makes it sound like it’ll be something that hasn’t been done before.
I think it could go either way. It seems to imply there’s something innovative about it, but I wouldn’t be that surprised if it turned out to be nothing more than a way to distance the new product from the old ones.

Not much. It just namedrops it alongside the new Nintendo businesses (theme parks and all that), and describes it as a next gen portable device. It also mentions that Nintendo projected a ¥34000 price point for the NX, but they dropped it to ¥32200. That’s about $300/€262.
$300? I can get down with that.
It’s very competent, that’s for sure. Falls in line with speculation from multiple sources too. They’ve mentioned they want to keep the hardware affordable while not selling it at a lost. That price, along with specs in between Xbox One and PS4 falls in line with Nintendo’s statements. I don’t really know how affordable PS4-tier hardware is these days, but I’d be surprised if they can’t sell that much horsepower for $300.
So the code name for Nintendos next Mobile Hardware is Mobile Hardware? Truly earth shattering news.
