It has been confirmed that Zombie Vikings, which was announced last August, is no longer coming to the Wii U. Mikael Forslind, the PR & Marketing Manager of Zoink Games, explained that the studio is focusing on other projects, and the team have migrated over to the NX for future game development.
Thanks, Nintendo Impact Gaming

Should I care?
If this is the first time you hear about the game, then probably not.
So many of these indie games I hear for first time when they say Wii U version/game/port has been canceled lately, making me think this is just an attempt to get little visibility and “free advertisement” for their little garage projects.
I hardly think this is the case. The only ones that hear about these cancellations are people interested in Nintendo news, so it wouldn’t make sense to advertise to a fanbase of a console that isn’t receiving a port. Nintendo fans should be even more worried seeing as what little support the Wii U has, even if from indie devs, is slowly trickling away.
I agree with petric22 as one quick glance at zoink’s website clearly suggests “they need to promote themselves”! One game does not a company make and to associate yourself with “Nintendo”, “NX”, and such things that are currently “on fire”, “click-bait” is all this is!
“One game does not a company make.”
Unless you’re Yacht Club Games and your first game is the acclaimed Shovel Knight. Don’t forget about that.
thats good news, at least they haven’t gave up on nintendo.
Not a big surprise.
k?
Yes! Keep that trash off an already left behind console.
Trash? Why would you say that? You most likely haven’t even played the game yourself
Has anyone played it? (Ouch)
Nah, but seriously, I’m just pulling chains, hell bring all the shovel ware and indie Karp festival game’s to Wii U, it isn’t going to help anything.

While everyone else is talking about this game, I’m sitting here thinking “God damn it! I sure do miss The Lost Vikings!”
and i was soo excited about downloading that game too.
