Nintendo has confirmed that the rhythm-based music game is exclusive to the Nintendo eShop in North America, where you can download it for $29.99 on Nintendo 3DS. Two new themes based on Rhythm Heaven Megamix and a free demo are also now available on the handheld.

Two reasons will keep me from buying the digital version. The cartridges have a tendency to outlive the systems, and I like to pass on games to people after I’m done with them. So easy to just say, “Hey, try this.” and toss them the box. sad…
