French developer DotEmu has confirmed that they are “working on a modern version of cult classic Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap“. The game will be coming to multiple platforms, including the Nintendo Wii U. DotEmu sais that it is “a close collaboration between Lizardcube, DotEmu and legendary series creator Ryuichi Nishizawa, based on Westone Bit Entertainment’s original masterpiece”. A new trailer and screenshots were released, and we’ve embedded the both down below.

Art style looks great. Original is one of my favourite games ever. Wonder if this means Monster Boy by FDG/Atelier will not come to Nintendo.
Yes,
Eagerly anticipating this one.
Now you are talking, if it comes on wii u and have a physical release it’s a day one purchase. Btw I luv the art style. For the young generation this is the best wonderboy episode in the franchise.
Loved the original im sure i will love this. BTW “DotEmu sais that it is “a close collaboration” is this supposed to say “DotEmu says that it is “a close collaboration”.
This worries me, because i was really looking forward to Monsterboy…
And i know that the team did a LOT of work on it.
I hope it did not get thrown out the window so these folks could make THIS game.
That would suck a lot.
seems to be still alive and well. http://www.monsterboy.com/blog/ they have play testers.
Good to know.
The art style looks great. It reminds me of Wario Land: Shake It, which wasn’t the greatest game, but was one of the prettiest sidescrollers ever.
