Pokémon GO Reportedly Brings In Daily Revenue Of Over $10 Million On iOS And Google Play

App insight firm App Annie is reporting that the immensely popular Pokémon GO has a daily revenue of over $10 million on Apple’s iOS platform and Google Play. This is clearly a huge amount of money for all those involved. However, the site reports that Pokémon GO has not had a meaningful impact on the daily revenue of other games on mobile platforms which means there have been no declines in daily revenue for other top-grossing titles such as Mobile Strike, Clash of Clans or Candy Crush Saga.

      1. Just because it’s not made by Nintendo doesn’t mean they are not making a lot of profit out of this.

The likely scenario is that Nintendo hired Niantic to make the game, Nintendo wouldn’t simply give one of their most lucrative IPs to another company so they would make money and Nintendo not. Part of the money goes to Niantic, another goes to infrastructure and servers around the world and another part goes to Nintendo.

Anyone thinking that Nintendo is not making money out of Pokemon Go is silly.

        1. Pokémon is not Nintendo’s IP. The IP is owned by the Pokémon Company which Nintendo has roughly 32% of shares of. Other shareholders are Game Freak and Creatures inc.

This is my guess for how the calculations should be made:
          30% goes to Apple/Google because it’s their in-app-purchase system, sadly. ($3.000.000)
30% goes to Niantic for making the game and maintaining the back-end. ($3.000.000)
the other 40 procent are devided between the shareholders or will stay at the Pokémon Company.
In the first scenario Nintendo would get ~12.8% a day which is ~$1.280.000 (10M * 0.128)
In the latter scenario Nintendo doesn’t get the money from the game directly but it will eventually profit from this.

If Nintendo gets 12.8% a day I think they are very happy with this because they don’t have to do anything themselves to earn this. But I really don’t like it that Google/Apple earn more money on this than Nintendo. If it wasn’t for Nintendo Pokémon would not have existed anymore…

        2. Um… no. So you may have noticed when you open the app it says Niantic in large print, and the Pokemon company in small print. Notice it doesnt say Nintendo. Nintendo owns 33 percent of the pokemon company, but they work autonomously from Nintendo, and Nintendo’s portion of the profits are feeding right back into the pokemon company, so effectively they are making zero from go. You are talking out of your butthole. If anyone is paying for “infrustructure” as you put it… it would be the pokemon company. This is Niantics game re-skinned to look like a pokemon game. TPC bought the right to re-skin the game, So most of the money is going to Niantic, and the rest to the pokemon company. The only increase in profits Nintendo is seeing, is from casual gamers getting back into pokemon and buying the mainline games for 3ds. Both X/Y and Omega/Alpha have re entered the top 40, and sun and moon are blowing up pre sales… They dont need to be making money directly, because the interest in pokemon is driving other areas of their business. Dont talk about things you clearly dont know anything about. It makes you look… not smart.

          1. Nintendo and TPC also owns a percentage of Niantic. 😐 so not only is Nintendo getting a cut for owning TPC, but also for owning Niantic. So…. yeah.

            1. And where did you hear that? That’s not true whatsoever. Niantic actually used to be owned by Google until they became independent in late 2015. They’re still independent.

    1. actually, that statement is wrong

The money IS going to nintendo, just that it is not 100% of it

You see, the Pokemon Company and Niantic are the main guys here, on which Niantic has the bigger cut

On the Pokemon Company, we have GameFreak, Creature.inc and nintendo

Creature.inc is owned directly by nintendo, being a direct branch for them

That leaves 2/3 of the ownership. However, Gamefreak has a 54% stock owned by Nintendo directly, as well as major ownership of the Pokemon IP as well

Althought it is confusing, in the end, Nintendo has actions, profit and ownership on everything related to Pokemon

  1. Most of it goes to Niantic but a lot of it to pay infrastructure, servers all over the world, etc.

How much of it goes to pay Nintendo for the licensing and royalties? I hardly think that Nintendo didn’t see the potential of it blowing up like this.

Was it Niantic asking for the license to make the game or was it Nintendo hiring Niantic to make the game?

        1. So heres the thing man. Their are answers to the questions your posing out there. The forums is not the place to get them. You look stupid when you speak in conjecture and speculation. Nintendo, and thus, the pokemon company, have a habit of looking to other developers of both software and hardware for ideas. In this case, they saw a game by Niantic, called Ingress, and went to Niantix with the idea of reskinning the game as a pokemon title. Therefor, the games underlying idea belongs to Niantic. TPC only owns Pokemon. So you see, Nintendo and The Pokemon company approached Niantic, meaning Niantic was doing them a favor, and thus deserves the largest cut. Why do people not get how game development works? Just google this shit its not hard. Dont just guesd that your right on a public forum you look like a dumbshit.

  2. Great ass game, I play it more than my consoles now but i never spent one penny on it so far, not one

  3. All that money, and instead of fixing features, they remove them, and things still don’t work right. Nothing I can do, why would they fix or improve anything when they can make 10 mil a day by removing features and keeping things broke.

  4. I can see it. Someone I know has spent roughly $20 thus far for the sake of being ahead.
I personally refuse to spend money on FTP titles because I know I can obtain things myself with a tad bit more difficulty.
