Good news for Dragon Quest fans as Square Enix has reconfirmed that Dragon Quest XI will come to the Nintendo NX. Japanese Nintendo publication Nintendo Dream recently had the opportunity to speak to a number of developers including Dragon Quest series creator Yuji Horii. Horii reconfirmed that Dragon Quest XI is in development for the next generation platform and that he hopes to have it released simultaneously with the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo 3DS versions.
Masahiro Sakurai: Well then, I would like to ask about each of your new games. First, Dragon Quest XI. The 11th installment in the series will be released simultaneously on Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation 4, and including NX it’s coming out on three platforms, right?
Yuji Horii: That’s right. The use of hardware is different for each system, so it’s quite a challenge.

But they still didn’t say whether it was coming to North America or not? Can’t believe there’s 11 Dragon Quest games, and I haven’t played ANY. Same with Final Fantasy.

Well, there’s no excuse for not playing the FF games : p. They are fairly easy to get a hold of. And well worth it IMO.
Except for Final Fantasy as I’ve played the original FFX and I have FFX/X-2 HD Remaster on my PS4. Playing X right now & will start on X-2 afterwards.

He could’ve said that because according to rumors the NX will most likely be cartridge based while the PS4 is disc based or it could’ve been because (and again this is according to recent rumors) that the architectures from all 3 platforms are different (PS4 is x86 while the NX is rumored to be ARM) but he never implied that the NX will be difficult to develop for so try not to jump to conclusions so quick…….especially when the NX hasn’t been revealed yet
Not necessarily. The NX might have some features unique to it. If DQXI uses those, that would qualify as “use of hardware”. Think of things like StreetPass and the like, for example.

They can really prove that by putting Rise Of Tomb Raider, Kingdom Hearts 3 and Final Fantasy XV on the NX but yeah they are very supportive of the NX so far so it must’ve really impressed them
