North American Wii U users can now pre-load Paper Mario: Color Splash from the Nintendo eShop. Although you can’t play the game yet, the pre-load allows you to download the game early. That way, when the game releases in the region on October 7th, you will only need to download a small update before being able to play. New screenshots came with this news, so we’ve included a gallery with them down below.

Well, apparently someone’s actually managed to play the game early cause of this. They preloaded it, and then found they had the whole game instead of the preload data:

It looks so pretty I want to buy it right now, but I’m worried I’ll be let down again. Why must you do me this way Paper Mario? Stop playing with my emotions…
It would appear as if Nintendo noticed the glitch, and removed the game from pre-purchase, since I cannot find the pre-purchase option anywhere on the game’s eShop page.
