As we’ve already seen, Pokémon Sun and Moon take an age to start up on the original 3DS compared to the New 3DS. However, this video makes it clear that there are more benefits to playing on the newer model. Comparing lag in one of the game’s taxing double battles shows that the latest generation of Pokemon is optimised for the New 3DS. Check out the video below.

Dear Lord. The old 3DS turns it into a Microsoft PowerPoint presentation.
The double battles shouldn’t even be that much of an issue. I don’t remember any lag from the gen 6 games unless if you went into a horde battle.
Remember that in Gen 7 the 3DS has to deal with 3 new (fairly detailed) player models that weren’t present in Gen 6.
Well, of course it’ll be faster. The New 3ds XL has better software. Duh, how stupid is society?

And just or more importantly, better hardware.

Idk , because it runs like a flipbook and the sky textures are missing.
No… that’s because the in-game weather is different. I’ve been playing on an old 3DS XL and I can assure you that none of the sky textures are “missing”.
