Gallery: Nintendo Has Revealed More Switch Features

If you feel like that Nintendo has not explained all of the Switch’s features and specs, they just have on their official site. They were announced with pictures, so we’ve included a gallery of them down below. There’s a lot of text, so keep that in mind.

        1. You’re forgetting that PS4 and XB1 NEED that extra space due to all the mandatory game installs they do.
Switch doesn’t do that thanks to cartridges, so it will be lighter on data usage.

Still, it’d be nice for us that like getting certain games digitally. Sure we can use Micro SD Cards & Switch them out in a minute but it would have been nice to have some initial strength of internal data, too.

          2. Some people like to have their games digitally though, plus there’s the Virtual Console (with hopes of Nintendo finally adding GC games!), so 32GB still seems extremely low for a system releasing in 2017.

        2. So you expected a TABLET console to feature a harddrive… with a spinning disk….. are you stupid?
Also, if Nintendo added 2TB, you’re looking at a system that’d cost you $1500 and I’m not even joking as Tablets are much different from your standard console.

      1. Yes 32GB plus 128GB expandable is not sufficient space for downloadable titles and patches in this current day and age especially when Nintendo expects us to carry the Switch around. Portability is a HUGE reason to go digital! Wouldn’t it be nice not to have to carry around all those extra cartridges?

There are also a lot of AAA third party titles have 10GB day one patches. Dishonored 2 & Final Fantasy XV are recent examples of this. Then there are games that are so buggy that you need to redownload the entire game due to an engine update (Assassin’s Creed Unity). Now if Nintendo could somehow allow cartridges to be patched directly…

          1. Ok I legitimately didn’t know that they went up to 2TB but I did a quick google search and couldn’t find one bigger than 512GB- which was more expensive than the Switch itself. How much do you think a 2TB will cost when they finally release one?

Still doesn’t excuse the fact that they should have put a standard sized SSD in the switch.

              1. Lol thats not true at all, distributers get OEM parts at a fraction of the MSRP price. Anyways an SSD was an example, just throw in a 1TB conventional drive then.

I’m honestly hoping the Game Cards will have extra free space right there on the card for patches, updates, & DLC. I’ve been speculating that as a possibility for awhile now.

I’m sure it could be possible some day if it’s not happening NOW. But since the Switch is doing HD Rumble & many thought that’d be too expensive right now, I say anything is possible at the moment.

  1. Also, the joycons will cost you a hefty $79.99 for a pair of left and right, and $49.99 for only the left or only the right, plus an additional $29.99 for the middle piece/grip thingy. Pro controller is at $69.99. Too expensive, in my opinion.

Except Pro controller. I’m pretty sure they specifically pointed out it would be sold separately. I guess I could be wrong. Maybe I should recheck. *shrug* Meh. I’ll do it later! *crashes flying hype train through an incomplete condominium* Oops…

      2. The Pro Controller doesn’t, as mentioned by others. Also, accidents happen, and you might need to replace your controllers at some point, which isn’t a nice thing in itself, but knowing it might cost up to $110 isn’t exactly the best feeling, hah.
And I was wondering, do you need to have a whole additional Switch system for local multiplayer? Let’s say, for MK8? Would every player need their own system to be able to play together, or will another pair of controllers be enough? I either missed it, or it wasn’t clear in the presentation. I know they mentioned up to 8 players can play in local multiplayer if everyone has their own Switch, but is that the only option? If not, you’ll still need to buy the controllers in case you’re interested in local multiplayer with friends or family, even if one pair is included already.

@.@ Good thing I won’t need but what’s already inside the box when I get mine. A pro controller can wait as I want to give the Joy-Cons a run for their money the first month while playing Zelda! @.@ I hope I can preorder the damn console later. As soon as the wife is done taking our 4 yr old to his appointment concerning (how to explain WIC to someone not in the US… tick, tock, tick, tock, tick, tock, tick, tock) welfare food for children under… 8(?), straight to my hometown & straight for GameStop! Put 50 on it this month, then come hope & sleep like a baby… Unless I’m still wired! Damn it! I never should have watched that Switch Presentation! CURSE YOU, NINTENDO!!!

Shit. I said hope. I meant home. … Blah, fuck it! Whatever! *repairs flying hype train*

I guess they don’t realize our phone carriers over here are greedy assholes that try to give us shitty internet. Luckily, the wi-fi here isn’t too bad and actually works fine most of the time.

  2. Switch suddenly became very meh.
How does Nintendo igentligen? This was the perfect console to run on VR, no cable clutter and motion controls, but they had to save a few pennies by not equipping it with a 1080p screen …

I waited to buy a psvr, but now I feel like I would rather put money on it

    1. They saved battery life, not “a few pennies.” It would have been significantly more money for a 1080p, which is unnecessary on a 6.2-inch screen, to sustain battery life.

And go ahead, go for the PSVR. It’s going to have a significantly smaller and lower quality library than the Switch, so that’s your loss. And no, I’m not being biased. VR is new, early games will be bad, and games will be sparse because it’s brand new in gaming.

  3. Why nobody is talking about the “With newly-added online play” on NES and SNES titles? It sound awesome.

    1. Omega Kalas Ridley X3 (Greatness Awaits at Nintendo Switch & Sony PlayStation 4! Come join us in the Light of Darkness!!)

Damn it! I forgot to mention that to the people I was telling about what paying for online will come with! OH well. They’ll find out eventually if they bother to look it up themselves.

While I’m a little worried about the fact they won’t fully reveal the features that come with online til after release, from what I’ve seen so far, I don’t think I have to worry. It’s nice to have a little confidence in Nintendo again.

Let me hope Nintendo can keep this up!

  6. Nintendo once again being hush hush about the performance of their systems. If you’re that scared, just don’t make a weak system. 32GB? That won’t even last a day. No external storage support? LOL. As soon as those patches hit, the people who bought a Switch are going to realise that a 512GB SD card costs more than twice the cost they paid for the Switch. Thankfully as a big digital buyer, I am hoping to skip out on buying this disappointing thing Nintendo is trying to call a console.
