Xenoblade Chronicles 2 was one of the few Switch games announced last night that didn’t get some vague release date during the presentation. However, the official Japanese website has slated the game for 2017. This listing is notably absent from the international websites, perhaps suggesting we’ll have to wait until 2018 to get our hands on the game. While this is pure speculation, this obscene release gap wouldn’t be a first for the Xenoblade series.
They could have chosen a better artstyle tbh
||It was meant to resemble the original one’s style but better…||
still prefer the first one’s artstyle. The characters didn’t look like they were from anime and there were less colors
But there is no region locking, right? So when Japan gets the game, everyone gets the game. As long as you can have English subtitles
It’s Japan & the US has a strong presence there so I guarantee it will have English subtitles for some of the US citizens that live there but don’t want to learn Japanese or maybe even can’t learn Japanese. Some people just can’t learn a language no matter how much they try as some people just can’t retain too much info. Hell! People that speak 5 different languages are pretty fucking rare so that should tell you right there some just can’t learn more than one language at a time without forgetting their mother language.
without at least forgetting their mother language.* Fixed.
Buy the Japanese version. It’s all region free.
Switch is looking like a Holliday purchase at this point. Haven’t made up my mind on the new art style yet. It doesn’t look amazing, but it may improve by the time the game releases.
I think you might be confusing artstyle with quality. I doubt the artstyle is going to change much if at all at this point from what I could tell of the trailer. I could be reading you wrong, though.
I suppose “the quality may improve” would’ve been clearer. That’s what I was getting at.
No reigon locking guys, no more waiting for games to get western release dates.
As long as you’re fluent in Japanese, right?
As I told Deepsouth, the US has a strong presence in Japan so it’ll at least have English subtitles. Read my comment to Deepsouth for the longer, non TL;DR comment I gave here. lol
As long as things aren’t stupidly censored in the US, I’ll gladly wait for the US release. Unless the US release uses a US cast for the voice acting. In which case, I’ll get the UK version instead. Like how I can’t go back to English dubbing for Naruto, I refuse to go with US voice acting for Xenoblade!
What makes you think there will be different English voice casts? If the game gets the an American voice cast, that would likely be the same for whenever it gets released in the UK.
Also, that’s too bad because the American voice acting was spectacular in XCX.
If it’s a direct sequel to the first & we see Shulk & them, they better bring back the UK voice cast. I’m gonna be very disappointed if I can’t hear Jenna Coleman’s lovely voice again as Melia.
I heard it’s coming this year in the US

they better branch the franchise into Xenoblade Chronciles + number for the more fantasy ones, and Xenoblade chronicles x + number for the more dark/sci-fi ones. X deserved a sequel. Now, said that, this XC sequel does not really seems to be a sequel, like, direct sequel. It just feels like its happens in XC universe however far in the future. I did not dig the art style eithier, this generic anime look together with cell shading is so meh. But the world looks gorgeous and it is Monolith Soft we are talking about so I am sure the game will be great.
Ive played jrpg’s with great artstyle, and bad story and gameplay. And i’ve played jrpg’s with mediocre artstyle buy great story and gameplay. I can tell you, I will take a great story and gameplay over artstyle any day of the week.
