Star Fox 64 has finally arrived to the North American Wii U Virtual console, which means a comparison video is now available to show the difference between the original and the most recent version.
Nintendo World Report has compiled footage from the three releases of Star Fox 64, across the Nintendo 64, Wii and the Wii U. Whilst the graphics are a lot sharper on the Wii U version, it looks considerably darker than the previous two versions overall. You can check it out below:
no 3DS comparison?
Only the Versions of the N64 original. Comparing any of those versions to the 3DS Rerelease, would be severely unfair to the N64 version and the VC Releases.
Wow, now that this N64 version on the Wii U looks more cleaner, it can be remistaken for Star Fox Zero since those games were basically the same thing minus the horrible controllers.
N64 version had both multi-player in the air and on land. Can’t compete with that. Not even Zero had that, although it fucking should have.
I can’t believe I’m saying this, but, the Nintendo 64 version is actually brighter. Yes, a console that was known for having horribly DARK graphics is actually brighter than the Wii and Wii U versions? Wow!
Is it really known for that? for me the N64 had always less contrast and more brightness which looked less rich and saturated compared to the PSX back then.
MANY N64 games that I’ve played (minus Super Mario 64, and some others) were SO dark that I had to turn the brightness up on my TV. I never had to do that on other consoles. They were also known for having extremely blurry backgrounds. In fact, in this day and age, I can’t even tolerate looking at most Nintendo 64 games. Yet I still don’t mind playing most NES and SNES games, with those super retro graphics. Go figure.
