  1. Zelda Twilight Princess didn’t make the cut… you can see how the later titles waned…

Still unsure how you play New Super Mario Bros and not get the Luigi version… that was very fun, but whatever

    1. I think Windwaker released early, and Twilight released long after the WiiU died and people started leaving. There just wasn’t enough engagement left for Twilight Princess. :(

      1. Okay let me rephrase. I bought physical or digital copies of every game in the top 1o. Still have a lot of them that I bought digitally, but sold back mario party 10, 3D World, and Mario Maker. MP10 was garbage. 3d world i got frustrated that I couldn’t beat the final bonus level so I gave up and sold it, and by the time I got mario Maker I was pretty burnt out on 2d mario, so it only took me 2 months to get tired of that game. I also bought and sold back Starfox and Wooly World.

      1. How many Wii U systems do you have? How many 3DS systems do you have? This isn’t really “average owner” as much as it is attach rate, or how many games were sold per system sold. Many, MANY people who own the 3DS own more than one system, so if you owned 2 3DS’s and 1 Wii U, you’ve just lowered the number of games to match the Wii U (20 games per system). However, if you owned 3 3DS systems, with 1 Wii U, it means you own more games per Wii U than you do games per 3DS. I myself own 40 3DS games, but I have 5 3DS systems, so really only 8 games per 3DS. I suspect you fall into the majority of 3DS owners, meaning you own more than one 3DS system.

    1. “Average owner” as you call them assumes that a person buys just 1 Wii U and only 1 3DS. It’s the attach rate, or games sold per system sold, it’s why the 3DS is so much lower, because people own more than 1 3DS system, but outside of Animal Crossing and Pokemon, usually just 1 copy of their games.

  2. Really hoping for Luigi’s Mansion 3 on Switch. I think 5 million for a sequel to an old GameCube game is pretty great.

    1. probably around the time it’s phased out for a successor, it’s already 6, and will be on the market at least another year. After that, it’s going to be begging for a successor, and/or Switch will eliminate the majority of its market.

  3. Firstly 13.56M is a shame, the wii U could have been more successful (they would have sold 15M+) if Nintendo did not give up on the Wii U in 2015. I mention it again but how come Nintendo can’t support the Wii U and the Switch at the same time like Sony can support the PS3 and PS4? Is it too much for them?

I am really surprise that Mario party 10 managed to hit 2M+ whereas Bayonetta sell less.

Finally I wondering how many Wii U owner will buy the switch?

As I said on that previous article mentioning hardware sales of Wii U, pathetic. Poor U could have been so much more awesome if Nintendo didn’t fuck up in so many areas.

  5. The attach rate (games sold per system sold) for the 3DS is absolutely atrocious, especially compared to Wii U. What this points to is that the real install base of the 3DS isn’t 65 million, it means 65 million units were sold, meaning those who own 3DS own more than one system (likely those who bought a 3DS also bought a New 3DS, or a 3DS XL, or a New 3DS XL, or a 2DS, or all of them). Given the software includes both physical and digital, it really indicated the majority of 3DS owners do indeed own multiple systems (also likely due to all the special edition versions over the years).

    1. Nope, 3DS attach rate is good for a handheld, nearly DS level. And Wii U attach rate is better than Nintendo 64’s one. I’ts ok, just hardware sales were bad. A failure, but software side just ok (SNES level).

  6. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Wii U sold more games than the XBox One, yet 3rd parties refuse to port games.

3DS? Yes. Wii U? *bursts out laughing* Sadly, no. It got it’s ass kicked by PS4 & 3DS… AGAIN..!
