Three days ago we reported that a London-based company, InDemand Design, were well on their way to producing the first Nintendo Switch charging case and we can now confirm that they’ve achieved their fundraising goal. For SwitchCharge to become a reality they ultimately needed $80,000 from backers. At the time of writing, they’ve now surpassed this and have raised an impressive $116,000.
InDemand Design have praised the Nintendo community and vouch to keep everyone who backed the project updated every step of the way.
“Nintendo has a fantastic community and it’s an honour to see you all come out to help us improve our experience of using the Switch. Whether you’re a Hyrulian, a Toad or an Inkling, thank you for your support. We’d love to hear from you as the campaign progresses and we’re taking all of your feedback on board to ensure we get the best version of SwitchCharge into your hands, so please keep it coming!”
I noticed that some members of the My Nintendo News community chose to put some money forward for the cause; please get in touch when you receive your product – I’d love to hear from you!
You can back it here.
Wow
I am somewhat curious to see how well the cooling of the system will work with that.
I mean, batteries generate heat and slapping something warm on the back of a device that becomes hot by itself is not always a good idea.
They have a section on the website that talks about what they did to address overheating and possible warping. It looks like they left a small gap between the Switch and battery and also put two vents in the bottom for air flow. I’m not entirely convinced that’ll be enough, but I expect them to fully test this.
Will definitely wait for a review before buying. Seems cool though.
For $70.00, no thanks. I’ll keep using my external battery that was $25.00, which can also charge my switch to 100% 3 times before needing a recharge.
Just looked up the price…retail price is $130.00. Backers can buy it for $75.00.
Yeah…sticking to my external charger. Don’t need a glorified, overpriced kickstand for my Switch.
What kind is it?
The charger I am talking about is the Lumsing Glory P2 15,000mAh Portable Charger: http://geni.us/qN39b
If you want more options, here’s a video that should help with that. It’s how I found out about the Lumsing portable charger, and it works just as this video says it does.

Looks like I found my plane travel battery. Thanks!!! :)
Yeah I have the same brand. But I have the 30,000 mAH. I bought it for my Switch. I took it on the plane to charge my phone and no more needing to find any USB stations crowded around and all occupied. Yes Amazon sells the mini and the large.
And what external battery pack do you have exactly????
It’s the Lumsing charger in the YouTube video I posted. Here’s the link to it on Amazon again: http://geni.us/qN39b
I have a IMOU Power Bank
And you can charge other devices besides just the Switch. Power Banks are the thing!!
which kind do you have If you don’t mind me asking?
Why does the title say “Nintendo’s”? It’s not produced or licensed by them, right? It’s an external company through crowdfunding. The title is misleading.
No, it’s specifically designed for Nintendo’s new console is what that means.
It’s almost 200.000$ that they almost have.

I already bought a power bank 30,000 MAH for this reason. So I do not need it.

Did they put the term Hyrulians alongside the names of species such as toads & inklings? Uhm… Guys… Hyrulian is a term to describe someone living in Hyrule. If anything, ya should have said hylian as that’s the species of pointy eared humans living in Hyrule who are blood descendants of Hylia’s human incarnation Zelda from Skyward Sword.
Sadly, the Terminology of Zelda (Termina-logy if we’re talking specifically about Majora’s Mask) isn’t as well-established as other stuff from pop culture, like the Klingon language from Star Trek or the iconic Twilight Zone theme, everybody knows those. I’ll treat this as an honest mistake.
I’m treating it as such, too, hence why I wasn’t going all “I can’t believe you dumbshits used the wrong terminology! Blah blah blah!” like some Zelda fanatic would. Maybe some day it will be as big as those.

This case seems impractical for anything but tabletop play.
