UK: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Had A Bigger Week One Than Mario Kart 8 And 7

We found out yesterday that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for the Nintendo Switch has shot to number one in the UK charts this week. Today, we’ve found out that the super fun racer had a bigger week one than both Mario Kart 8 for the Wii U and Mario Kart 7 for the Nintendo 3DS. This is extremely positive news for Nintendo UK and the Nintendo Switch.

  1. I hope Nintendo will add new tracks, content and functions for it as well. It’s one of the core Nintendo multiplayer titles. And MK Infinite ∞ Deluxe could last longer if you ask me. But instead of DLC free updates for the online experience would be great.

  2. It’s in times like these that Super Mario Run makes sense. It has been used as a promotional and awareness tool for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. I think that and the appeal of the switch resulted in stellar sales for the game. Well played Ninty.

    1. It’s good news but it’s just in the U.K. from what I’m reading. I don’t think MK 8 and 7 did very well in the U.K. during the first week. You can always spin news to make it sound good. Now if MK8 deluxe sold better during week one in the US? Now that would be something to get excited about.

  3. I think for these core games that really drive up sales, there should be some kind of app game that goes along with it, like pokemon go. Just a stupid Mario kart game would have lots of articles written about it and a couple months later release the game.
