The latest video from the informative Gaming Historian on YouTube has taken a look at the history of the beloved Super Nintendo game, Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars. As I am sure you are aware the game was a joint effort between Square Enix and Nintendo and ultimately proved to be a hit. Check out the video below to find out how the winning concept came about.

I think Paper Mario was technically the successor.
Aside from what Luigi said, I believe there were also copyright issues with Geno and Mallow. This is one of my absolute favorite games — it’s a shame there were no direct sequels!
