You might have seen yesterday that the Nintendo Switch SDK was leaked online which included a number of interesting user documents for developers. In the leak a number of things were discovered including the fact that Nintendo is planning to bring save data transfers to the platform as well as a feature called Guest Login. You can read all about it down below:
“In the future, we plan to provide a feature to transfer account save data among multiple consoles. As a result, there is the possibility that user accounts with uninitialized account save data will be added. Note that your design must work without issue, even in this case.”
“We are considering a feature in the future (tentative name: Guest Login) to access existing network service account information without linking to a user account. This feature would allow temporary access to the network service account linked to the Nintendo Account by logging in to the Nintendo Account within the application. This feature would, for example, make it possible to upload a character you have raised as online data and then use that data on a friend’s NX (without creating a user account).”
Thanks to Ridleyslayer for the tip!
Good news!
||Obviously, and a few other things as well before we launch our online service next year…||
Great. Now let me do a backup.
Ah the good old days of NX lol
||NX = Never Xbox…||
“on a friend’s NX” FINALLY
While this should have been a damn feature on day freaking 1, I’m happy to hear this. NOW HURRY THE HELL UP!!!
I still want cloud storage at some point, too, though! It never hurts to have multiple places to back up our save data. With the account system, I’m not worried about any digital games I get since I should be able to get them back as long as I have access to my Nintendo Account. Then again, I don’t recall them ever confirming that our digital purchases are actually tied to our Nintendo Account.
