Japan: Nintendo Switch Sells 44K And Nintendo 3DS Sells 21K

It’s Wednesday which means it is time to see how the various software and hardware have performed this week in Japan. There have been a number of new entries this week including the highly anticipated Metroid: Samus Returns on the Nintendo 3DS. That specific title arrived at number three in the Media Create charts, which is encouraging. It also beat the latest Uncharted game for the PlayStation 4, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy. 1. Considering Metroid doesn’t sell well in Japan, I’d say 3rd is not that bad. 30k copies sold, is ok, no? The US is much more interesting, because it’s the “core market” for Metroid.

    Splatoon 2 is insane, though. 2nd place with 37k copies sold this week with 1.1m lifetimes sales so far in Japan alone. Nintendo is killing it with Splatoon 2. I’m guilty as well, I have it, too. It’s super fun, but it could very well become one of the best selling games on Switch during it’s lifecycle. This new IP was worth it, that’s for sure.

  2. who the fook is biying pes on ps4 the games like 30 yr old mechanics and was destoyed by pes wii mechanics 12 yrs ago

    who the fuck buys that trash GIVE ME PES SWITCH WITH FULL TEAM CONTROLS A GROWN UPS GAME

  3. Well if general consumers don’t care to buy samus returns then we honestly don’t deserve another 2d metroid if we just reward mercury steam with broken dreams and legitimately depressing them. I’m making my own damn metroid “inspired” game and I don’t care if I’m the only one who ever plays it because screw general consumers and what they think. They after all, are the ones who continue the metroid curse in the first place!

  4. King Kalas X3 {I only buy exclusives that interest me on Switch. For everything else that interests me, there is PS4.}

    3rd place for Samus Returns? I would have expected it to be a lot lower if not on the sales chart at all.

  5. 3rd place for Metroid is pretty good, considering this is Japan.
    I just want Metroid 5 now (on Switch).
    The only problem I have with Samus Returns is that it’s on 3DS.. my left hand has cramped up so many times while playing. I’m used to playing mostly RPGs on my 3DS, ha.
    The ending of Samus Returns definitely could be hinting at a new 2D game, so I hope it does well enough for that to happen. :)
