Nintendo Banning YouTube Livestreams As Part of Nintendo Creators Program

Those of you who are members of Nintendo’s Creators Program will have been sent an email recently informing you that YouTube livestreams are now technically banned. Obviously this policy hasn’t gone down too well with creators and you can read the message below:

    1. They think that livestreamers and Youtubers will keep people from buying their games. Which has caused revenue problems for creators in the past, it’s like the company hates free advertisement.

    1. Basically they are saying that is not something they can cover properly with the system (for some reason) and due to that, when a channel is fully covered under the creators program they cannot steam with the same channel.
This is pretty common actually, which is why many channels have been opting to create a sister channel to the base one including the word “Live” (plus it makes it easier to tell if something is streamed content or not)

I honestly don’t think even Youtube gets Youtube at all these days. lol

  1. If I was Nintendo president for just one day Nintendo Creator’s Program would be abolished within moments of me beginning. Or even better, I would instead use it to provide supplementary income to channels that were deemed to be producing particularly exceptional Nintendo related content – rather than taking income away from them. What we have instead is an archaic system that denies Nintendo the free marketing that Youtubers provide. It is utterly ridiculous, and a demonstration that Nintendo have no understanding of user-created content.

    1. I think it’s along the lines of “Even though it is making us money, it could maybe, possibly, perchance cost us money. So let’s assume that possibility is a guarantee and stop that thing from costing us money. Just to be safe.”

  3. From what I think I understand, it sounds like the Nintendo Creators Program allows content creators on YouTube to be paid for their Nintendo-related videos based on how long the video is. But if they are doing a Livestream that video cannot be paid for by Nintendo because they’re basically being paid extra at that point.

  5. I can see it from both sides honestly. If you read through the YouTube comments you’ll see countless people claiming they don’t need to play the game because they are watching it, or they’ll say the LP is the way a poor man can play the game. It’s no wonder Nintendo don’t like it. And just to play devils advocate here, Nintendo don’t need free advertisement, nor do they want it. They are very surgical and laser guided when it comes to them advertising their games, and YouTube videos can appear to take that power from them… anyways, just my opinion.

  6. So you can still livestream Nintendo stuff so long as you don’t receive revenue by using a NCP-enabled account?
Sounds to me like people who wants to still can, while people whose work it is to stream stuff won’t care to.
    Zero loss.

  7. I’m wondering if this has anything to do with PewDiePie’s current scandal. If it’s a prerecorded video, it’s easy to cut that stuff out but in a live video it’s out there and not just the game, but the video itself has Nintendo’s name on it. Anyway, just baseless speculation…

  8. So glad I’m not part of their creator program. They really don’t understand the concept of content creators advertising games

lol This program was crap before & it is apparently STILL crap.
