Here’s Some SNES Mini Launch Sales Stats From eBay

Demand for the SNES Mini has been very high before and more so after its launch that took place just a few days ago. It’s unsurprising that eBay is currently awash with SNES Mini’s but at a higher-than-RRP price point, thanks to scalpers. Some interesting statistics have surfaced which gives us an idea of the SNES Mini selling activity on eBay over the launch period of the console – September 29th to October 1st.

  • eBay, on average, sold 143 SNES Classic Edition units every hour between September 29th and October 1st
  • This equals out to roughly four per minute and 3,432 per day
  • There were more than 17,000 listing on eBay as of its September 29th release date
  • The average sale price is somewhere between $162.10 and $165
  • In November 2016, eBay announced the NES Classic was sold once every 18 seconds on its release day.

    1. Well, obviously. If you sold the item on ebay for regular price you’d be losing money. Ebay takes a cut as well. In order to make it worth your time and liability to sell on ebay, the item has to be worth at least 40ish% more online than in stores, unless you’re getting the stock for wholesale or less.

What some people are failing to notice is the number of these being sold on eBay. That’s just as equally troubling to me if not slightly more troubling. I don’t entirely blame some people for buying them on eBay, though. I’m finding it hard to trust Reggie’s words, too, and would be worried if I didn’t buy one on eBay when I had the chance that I’ll miss out on the product altogether if I was really wanting one. (Luckily, I don’t want one.) Even if they do keep their word, I’m worried they might not restock them til close to December & that will make getting one even harder. Who knows. It might even become extremely dangerous to get one that close to Christmas, and Black Friday, in the States. With how crazy things have been getting this year Stateside, I wish you all the best of luck & safe, happy hunting. @.@
