ThinkGeek Running SNES/NES Mini Lottery As New Stock Arrives has revealed that they currently have stock of the SNES and NES Mini in their warehouse and they’re trying a different approach for consumers who want to purchase one. They’ve set up a lottery system whereby customers are urged to sign up to a mailing list, and if they’re lucky enough to be randomly selected, they’ll receive an email with instructions on how to buy one.

Coming from ThinkGeek:

We know that many of you who were hoping to get a Nintendo NES or SNES Classic Edition for the holidays were disappointed by the lack of supply. We feel you. But there’s still some time left, and we’re trying to distribute them in the fairest way we know.

We received a shipment of NES and SNES Classics to our warehouse, and we’re holding a drawing to let you buy them without having to be at your local store the moment the truck shows up. Because ain’t nobody got time for that.

All you have to do is sign up here, and if you’re one of those randomly selected, we’ll email you with instructions on how to buy yours.

  1. These things are hard enough to get as is & they want to hold a freaking raffle to decide who buys them!? Talk about brutal. Least everyone gets a chance equally, I guess.

  2. I couldn’t believe when I walked into Gamestop today and saw 2 Super NES Classics on the counter behind the registers. During the holiday shopping season, and a Friday at that. So I finally have one that I can try hacking (I wasn’t about to do that with my one and only).
