Detective Pikachu Movie Officially Begins Filming

If you’re one of the many fans that are looking forward to the Detective Pikachu live-action movie then you’ll be glad to know that Legendary/Universal announced today that Detective Pikachu has begun filming. It’s going to be arriving in May 2019 and is being directed by Rob Letterman (Goosebumps). We already know that the very popular Ryan Reynolds is the voice of Pikachu and it’s worth noting that The Get Down‘s Justice Smith will also star in Detective Pikachu as the Pokémon’s human partner, with Kathryn Newton (Big Little Lies) also making an appearance on the casting list.

  1. I remember when they announced “live-action pokemon” and than later they came up with this…..

    Just imagine a real pokemon movie with battle and shit. Hollywood would probally ruin it anyway looking at most blockbusters , but just imagine a Pokemon movie rated 8+ on IMDB , wich are well made movies 90% of the time. I enjoy most movies rated between 5-8 aswell but these kind of franchises deserve the best. I hope we get a Zelda trilogy one day on par with Lord of the rings or even topping it. For me Lord of the rings sets the bar for fantasy movies , even Hobbit could not top it..

    1. I think its a good idea to keep this a relatively small-scale comedy because the big epics based on video games always seem to end up really corny.

      That said, I too believe that a Zelda trilogy could be very good. Just the music alone would make it.

  2. Infinite Kalas X3, The Sonyendo King

    This movie is either going to be enjoyable because it’s one of the greatest things ever or because it’s one of the worst things ever. Yeah. Even terrible movies can be enjoyable.
