Starbreeze Intends To Add Switch Online App Voice Chat To PAYDAY 2 When Nintendo Approves It

It is no secret that the Nintendo Switch Online App, as well as its voice chat, isn’t used often. Other than Splatoon 2, there aren’t really any games that support it. Depending on the game, the lack of support can really have an impact on your gaming experience. For example, the Nintendo Switch version of PAYDAY 2 is a game that requires a lot of coordination with your team. As a result, voice chat is very needed if you want to be successful. That said, we now know why the game lacks this feature.

According to what a Starbreeze representative said to Kotaku, they want to add voice chat to the game, but Nintendo hasn’t allowed it yet. They said that “we are waiting to be able to participate in Nintendo’s VOIP app solution. As soon as we are given the go-ahead, this is definitely on our list to look into to update”. Nintendo’s response wasn’t immediate, but they later told Kotaku that “voice chat is only enabled in games that have been specifically designed to use the feature in conjunction with the Nintendo Switch smart device application”.

  1. So Nintendo has made it to where a dev can not put voice chat directly into their game and are forced to go through their stupid smartphone app? …ugh… It’s bullshit like this that scared 3rd parties off to the PlayStation and Sega Genesis back in the 90s because Nintendo had to be an overbearing control freak. Please let this shit be fixed by the time they reveal paid online & add voice chat to the damn system itself through a firmware update…

  2. This is plainly absurd! I’m usually a Nintendo apologist, and my previous comments should make clear that I love the company. Nintendo needs a real answer to this issue – and they need it before some vague Fall 2018 timetable.
