Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap Developers Would Love To Work On The First Or Second Zelda Video Games

Eurogamer has had the opportunity to interview Omar Cornut who was one of the lead developers behind the wonderful reimagining that is Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap which is currently available on the Nintendo Switch. Cornut told the publication that they would love to be able to remake the original The Legend of Zelda game or Zelda II: The Adventure of Link. Here’s what he had to say.

“Zelda. The first one is a better game – everyone seems to agree – but the second, it’s a game that could have been better. Which makes it a good candidate – we can take this game that was a bit flawed and actually improve it. It’d make sense… But the first Zelda, if you remade it, I don’t think I’d change anything. And if you did change anything, people would riot. But anyway it’s Nintendo, so…”

  1. That is the biggest candidate for a remake out of any Zelda game and I’d like to see it. Wouldn’t want the art style of wonder boy tdt though. As nice as it is for that game it doesn’t really fit with Zelda.

    1. I disagree as it’s Zelda. If done right, any artstyle can work with any Zelda entry. (Even chibi which is half of the artstyle of Wind Waker & it’s sequels.) Not saying I’d want this artstyle to be used, but I can deal with it since Wind Waker, in spite of being against it’s artstyle at the time of it’s original release, is still my #1 favorite Zelda game.

  2. We didn’t have the first Zelda as a kid, but we did have Zelda II, so I have a lot of fond memories of that game. I would absolutely love a remake of that game. Nintendo doing Samus Returns gives me hope. Zelda II and Mario Land 2 would both be incredible remakes!

  3. Go for Zelda 2!!! Satellite view had a 3RD quest with SNES 16 Bit graphic/sounds in 1995. Played a rom that recreates the 3rd quest. game not bad! Not for the faint of heart!

  4. I’d honestly like a remake of both games as I can’t get into them & stay hooked for very long as I’ve done with every game post-Zelda II (except the DS games because screw those touch controls as I haven’t played them once since beating them.) But Zelda II is probably the one that needs a remake the most since it is the black sheep of the franchise. But if they follow what they did with the Metroid remakes of the original game & 2, they’ll probably want to remake Zelda I first then Zelda II over a decade later.
