Japan: The Switch Version Of DKC: Tropical Freeze Has Outsold The Total Sales Of The Wii U Version In 2 Weeks

Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze has been available on the Nintendo Switch for a couple of weeks now, and it has already managed to outsell the original in Japan. On the Wii U, the game took 46 weeks to sell 118,774. It only took 2 weeks for the game to outsell that. According to the latest Japanese sales data, the game has sold 122,719 copies on the Switch:

  1. I only played the Wii U version for a while, and lost interest. Not because it sucked, but because I had SO many other (more interesting) games to play. But I loved the original one on Wii, once I forced myself to play through it.

  2. Great! I’m sure it’ll continue to sell well for a while longer.
I’m just glad more people are experiencing the game now. It’s an awesome game, the best of all the DKCs in my opinion.

This is just more proof for why ports of underappreciated Wii U games are a good idea.
Maybe we’ll get a sequel someday.

    1. captain toad is going to be even better because it had some weak sales on the Wii U imo the switch will do the game justice tho

  3. Might as well port the entire wii u library at this point. Meme run especially. That was a hidden gem

  4. With all the Wii U ports finding success on the Switch, it really makes me hope Xenoblade Chronicles X makes it over eventually. That game deserved much better than the sales it got on Wii U.
