Capcom has reconfirmed that the next Mega Man game is in development

10 months ago, Capcom said that they would be spending 2019 developing the next Mega Man game. This has now been reconfirmed by Mega Man series producer Kazuhiro Tsuchyia in an interview with 4Gamer, which has been translated into English by Rockman Corner. Tsuchyia says that they are planning on extending the Mega Man brand at least over 10 or 20 more years by giving it constant stimulation, that way we’ll be able to experience new titles alongside new player.” Tsuchiya was also asked about the next game. You can see Tsuchiya’s response in full down below.

4Gamer: “What can you tell us about the next game to be developed? The most recent game – Mega Man 11 – was amazing, and we [4Gamer] are expecting the revival of the Star Force series. Personally I would like to see the Command Mission saga to be brought back. (laughs)”

Tsuchiya: “I see (laughs). There are a lot of titles I personally want to work on, but to tell the truth the next game to be developed has already been decided on, I’d just like to keep the specific details hidden for the moment. Please wait until we make an announcement. Still, I think that the there’s no such thing as a spin-off in the Mega Man series, every saga is a main series on its own. When speaking of “Mega Man”, there will always be people who think of “X”, as well as people who think of “EXE”, and I think that’s why each one’s concept of what Mega Man is changes depending on the generation. For that reason, we don’t want to deny any series of its future.”

  1. Cool, this is actually a good thing from Capcom. I love mega man 11, it’s very good run, jump, shoot platforming. ( needs to be longer though). I think with the series going for so long now, its pretty much constantly in development, just like Nintendo are always working on Zelda and Mario games.

  2. So in other words it is now more or less guaranteed that we’ll see the return of Megaman Battle Network someday? That alone is great news for me since that is my favorite Megaman series with Starforce as a close second. Although since the EXE storyline came to a proper conclusion in the 6th game whenever they do get around to revisiting that series I think it should be 1 of 2 things. 1. A set of remakes with modern graphics maybe add some new features and areas, or 2. A continuation where you play as Lan’s son.

    1. Alternatively, they could do a spin-off like Mega Man Battle Chip Challenge. I use to think that every netnavi who has ever fused with Megaman.exe should be playable, but I would settle on just Megaman.exe, Protoman.exe, Roll.exe, and Bass.exe. What I REALLY want from the Battle network series is Crashman.exe. I’m not asking for netnavi counterparts for every single robot master, just Crash Man.

      1. So a MMO game based on Battle Network? That would actually be perfect especially considering the world BN already has established it was practically made for MMO potential.

    2. Finally, some good news. Mario and Mega Man will always be the most important video game franchises to me. And although there will always be a new Mario game, Mega Man needs any game he can get.

    3. I’m so glad to see that Mega Man is getting more love from Capcom! I’d love a new Battle Network game but I’m happy with pretty much any new entry. Bring on more Mega Man!!
