The outbreak of the coronavirus has resulted in the cancellation of another gaming-related event. SXSW has released a statement saying that “The City of Austin has cancelled the March dates for SXSW and SXSW EDU. SXSW will faithfully follow the City’s directions”. This is the first time in 34 years that SXSW has been cancelled. Nintendo‘s presence at SXSW was going to be low, but SEGA was going to hold their yearly Sonic the Hedgehog panel. It is unknown what SEGA plans to do with the announcements they were planning to make during the event. SXSW’s official statement can be seen in their tweet down below.

Will Sega still make announcement s of the Sonic game despite the cancel of SXSW festival?

Well, they could always do a Sega Direct. After all, Sega does what Nintendon’t.

That would imply SEGA has a healthy library of flagship IPs, as opposed to just mediocre modern Sonic titles and acquire IPs that are debatably SEGA.

It won’t be long before unannounced games start surfacing onto eShop/PSN/XBL/Steam and in your nearest Target/Wal-Mart/Best Buy, ……..just like the dreaded old days (NES era).
