Rising Star Games and Natsume Inc. has announced that a new entry in the Harvest Moon series is coming to Nintendo Switch. Harvest Moon: One World will be released on the Nintendo Switch sometime later this year. While there are no screenshots of the upcoming title at present, Natsume Inc. will be sharing more about the farming sim in the coming months.

Hiro Maekawa from Natsume Inc states the following via a press release:

“Harvest Moon: One World features a brand-new way of exploring Harvest Moon that seasoned players and new generations will both enjoy. Over the decades, Harvest Moon has evolved but has always retained the traditional, family-friendly farming fun that the franchise is known for. The new engine and new graphics will upgrade this experience for 2020. We are so excited to share more about the features of Harvest Moon: One World in the coming months.”

  1. I’ve never played a Harvest Moon game but given how much I love Stardew Valley and Animal Crossing, I think I’ll add this to my “Games-To-Get” list.

    1. If you’re interested in Harvest Moon, I’d recommend looking at past Harvest Moon games and at Story of Seasons. Due to a legal battle between Marvelous! and Natsume that happened around 2012. Marvelous,– the original creators of Harvest Moon games– had to change the name of their series to Story of Seasons to keep their end of the deal while Natsume used the well known brand name they got to keep to push out subpar Harvest Moon games that while playable, aren’t as enjoyable or hold up to past games in the series.

    2. Don’t get a Harvest Moon Game. At least, don’t get any that came out after 2007. The original HM creators decided to change publishers, but Natsume still owned the name, so now Natsume makes lousy rip offs using the HM brand. The original developers now make games under the Story of Seasons name, and also have a fantastic sort of fantasy farming spin off called Rune Factory. I’d suggest looking into those instead.

    3. Stardew Valley is a blatant uninspired copy-paste job of Harvest Moon. You can play one of the classic HM games like the one on GBA, but you will be disappointed as it’s EXACTLY the same game like Stardew Valley.

      1. As someone who has played MFoMT to death, I’d say SDV is a better game. I still am in love with the GBA HM, but I’m pretty sure it wouldn’t hold up to someone playing it for the first time. SDV has grown on the original concept, while I feel like even SoS is just rehashing the same things in odd sort of ways.

Well they are both life simulators so of course Stardew Valley is going to feel similar to Harvest Moon.
I remember playing Stardew Valley for the first time and how much it reminded me of Animal Crossing, doesn’t mean I have to dislike it and call it a copy-paste.

Now come on now, is that really necessary? I’m open to mutual disagreements, especially when the subject is as trivial as a video game, but I think when you have to resort to such rude replies is where I think the line should be drawn.

        1. I’m not talking to someone who has no understanding of the subject matter and is basically just commenting “no you’re wrong”. Do you homework! Play Harvest Moon for GBA then Stardew Valley then tell me that it’s not a borderline illegal plagiarism of a game! There’s a difference between getting inspired making your own idea of a game and just copying every detail you see in Harvest Moon, without adding anything substantial on your own, making it the EXACT same experience.

      4. +bootyranger
Really? So it’s exactly like Stardew Valley? I had no idea there was online multiplayer on the GBA and that the the assets found in Stardew Valley were copied straight over from Harvest Moon and not completely remade from scratch.
And wow! The villagers are exactly the same as well? So Abigail, Piers, Dan, and Sam is also in Harvest Moon? Dang, that really is plagiarism!

In case you can’t tell, yes this is sarcasm, I highly doubt Stardew Valley is 100% identical to classic Harvest Moon in the manner you’re proposing. There’s even another person on here that says he’s played the game to death and even he has said Stardew Valley, in his opinion, is a better game.

And for the record; I’m not saying you’re “wrong”. If you don’t like Stardew Valley, that’s fine, nothing wrong with that but there’s no need to be a dick about it.

How fudging old are you? I seriously feel like I’m hitting heads with a 10 year old.

            1. Just just the fuck up you never had a point replying to my original comment in the first place! Get a life!

      5. +bootyranger
Ah yeah, let’s just gloss over the fact that it was you that replied to my comment. This is just borderline hilarious now.

        1. Oh yea I didn’t realize because you were acting the whole time like you know anything about Harvest Moon. SO WHY THE FUCK DID YOU EVEN TELL ME THAT IM WRONG WHEN YOU NEVER PLAYED THE DAMN GAME?! YOU ARE THE HILARIOUS MORON HERE!

      6. +bootyranger
I never said I knew all about Harvest Moon, In fact I even said right off the bat I’d never played a game in the series, I just said they were going to feel similar because they are both Life Simulators. And, again, I never said you were wrong, I just said that you’re fine to not like Stardew Valley and that your childish tantrum was un-called for.

Why don’t you get a life? You’re obviously just here to cause trouble.

        1. No you’re just replying to cause trouble. I told you my opinion about the game and you had no point in replying to that because you can’t have an opinion as you never played both games. But still you had to diss me.

      7. +bootyranger
You can’t come on to here saying that I’m an idiot and to get lost and then moan about me “dissing you” which I clearly never did. Either you’re a troll, which I honestly hope you are considering how embarrassing you look, or you really are just that stupid.
And again, I’m not sharing my opinion on Harvest Moon, but you don’t need to have an opinion on Harvest Moon to question just how accurate your statement is. I am very doubtful it’s the copy-paste illegal plagiarism you claim it to be especially with kieori coming in saying Stardew Valley is the better game in his opinion.

If you’re not a troll, then man, you must really hate being told something that goes against what you think.

    4. If you have a Gamecube/Wii/or PS2 I highly recommend Harvest Moon Magical Melody. It’s probably easily the best in the series, and while I admit the most I have of it nowadays are cherished memories, I even consider it superior to Stardew Valley (which isn’t something I can say about any other Harvest Moon game).

I also recommend HM: A Wonderful Life if your looking for a life sim that plays on its narrative a bit. It does have its glaring flaws and monotony but it’s easily my second favorite in the series all things considered.
I hear the GBA games are good as well, but I never played those as a kid.

  2. If you’re interested in the Harvest Moon series, I’d recommend looking at past Harvest Moon games and at Story of Seasons.

  3. Is Harvest Moon an RPG game like Bravely Default II? I’m starting to play RPGs and so far Im having a blast. Trails of Mana, Bravely Default II demo.
Im thinking of getting Xeno Blade II for the Switch.

    1. @ Gruntilda
Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons is a life simulation game, like Animal Crossing but with farming and marriage. If you’re looking for a mix of life simulation and RPG I’d highly recommend Rune Factory 4 for the Switch since it’s a balanced mix of farming and open world fighting with the ability to craft and upgrade gear/weapons. If your looking for an RPG that’s purely open world then Xenoblade II is probably your best bet.

  4. Natsume are a bunch of ripoffs. I don’t don’t how are they even surviving with games with super poor quality.

Story of Seasons is the original HM but because they didn’t own the IP stateside they were forced to release the games under a new brand.
