Europe: Animal Crossing and FIFA 20 top-selling games for first half 2020

Games Industry is reporting via a GfK survey, which has covered physical video game sales across 19 European countries, that the two best-selling games for the first half of 2020 were Animal Crossing: New Horizons for the Nintendo Switch and FIFA 20. The immensely enjoyable Animal Crossing: New Horizons for Switch topped the charts in Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Netherlands, Switzerland, and the UK. Sony’s The Last for Us: Part II topped the video gaming charts in three countries: Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Sweden, and it was the second-highest seller in Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, and Italy.

  1. How on earth is this game still selling?
Nintendo sure is lucky to debut Animal Crossing when they did. Paper Mario Origami King…its alright but it’s not a 10/10 . I give it between 6.5/10 or 7/10.

Paper Mario Origami King is kind of boring. Yet it is a little funny like make you laugh funny. Some people may not like the battle mode. It is ok. But it would had been better had it been a tradition RPG like the 1st Paper Mario when you power up and have EXP etc etc. I like the story. I like the graphics. I still suggest they make Paper Mario game immediately so it can at least debut in the early years of the next generation Nintendo console.

Speaking of next generation Nintendo console, Nintendo needs to think of raw power for it. Dont make it barely more powerful than the PS4. Look what happen when Wii U known as Project Cafe giving it barely more powerful than the 360 and PS3 that was stupid knowing Sony and Microsoft were coming out with Ps4 and next Xbox had next generation consoles in their R&D. . So why would they think all they needed was to make Wii U just more powerful than PS3 and 360?

They also need to think ahead of what the PS6 and next Xbox after Xbox Series X I’d going to be like as well. Because when the next generation Nintendo console debuts, PS5 and Series X will be 3 years in their life cycle and will be teasing the PS6 and next Xbox after Series X.

So Nintendo needs to think what is the perfect console in power the next console should have because it will be in the same marker with PS5 and PS6 amd Xbox series X and next Xbox.

Just like Switch is in the same market with PS4 and PS5 and Xbox 1 and Seires X.

Just like Wii U was in the same market with PS3, PS4 and 360 and Xbox 1.

So yes the next generation Nintendo console will be in the same market with PS5 and PS6 and Xbox series X and next Xbox. So the power needs to be competitive enough.

  2. I think about the future not the past or the present when it comes to R&D.
If Nintendo thinks like this then their consoles would never have gaming droughts.

Some reason in the back of my mind the next generation Nintendo console will either be barely more powerful than the Switch or barely more powerful than the PS4 when knowing it will be in the same market with PS6 and the Xbox after Series X. And Nintendo already knows those consoles will be more powerful than the PS5 and the Xbox after Series X.
So Nintendo needs to plan the specs in the next generation console wisely because when that console will be 3 years in the PS6 and Xbox after Series X will be the new competition.

  3. I still believe they should invest in a “power dock”. The new switch should get improvements based on current mobile tech BUT putting it in the dock for TV play should make it more powerful than the ps4 pro and xbone 1X.

If nintendo can put their “console” at least half way between the current and next gen sony/MS consoles in terms of power, they will be ok.
