Good news today for the Pikmin franchise as the latest entry for the immensely popular Nintendo Switch platform, Pikmin 3 Deluxe, has shifted 499K physical units at retail in Japan. The original Pikmin sold a little over 500K in the land of the rising sun while Pikmin 2 sold roughly 480K and Pikmin 3 for Wii U sold less than 200K in Japan. When the first two games were released for the GameCube digital downloads obviously weren’t a thing. The Pikmin 3 Deluxe sales are physical sales and downloads weren’t factored in so the number is much higher than 499K units sold. This means Pikmin 3 Deluxe is now the fastest-selling game in the franchises history in Japan and will soon be the best-selling.
I remember when this first came out people where worried it was failing.
The numbers might not be the same for the u s or the uk though
I feel like that series has charm that people just wont get until now that its on a console that has sold way more than gamecube and wii u combined.
Not exactly great sales though are they, let’s be honest
That’s good for me. Maybe this will build their confidence if continuing this franchise. I love Pikmin 3 Deluxe. I’m glad I got it now. There is more on this game then Nintendo talked about.
I hope this encourages Nintendo to HURRY UP WITH PIKMIN 4. I wish they’d at least talk about Pikmin 4 and explain why nothing has been said about it in so long.
