Netherrealm Studios has ended support for Mortal Kombat 11

It has been quite a ride for Mortal Kombat 11. Ever since the game originally released in 2019 on multiple platforms, including the Nintendo Switch, it has received more playable characters and even some story content via DLC. Well, it was only a matter of time, but that long ride is officially over.

Netherrealm Studios has confirmed, via the official Mortal Kombat Twitter account, that “NetherRealm is now focusing on its next project and after more than two years of supporting Mortal Kombat 11, DLC for the game, including characters, has come to an end”. Their official tweet can be seen down below.

  1. I still haven’t gotten around to it yet, but this definitely makes me less interested in future titles. This amount of support is pretty awful for a fighting game.

It’s like there’s no point buying these until they bundle all the DLC. You just play through the content after it’s all there and then drop it forever as they cash in on the next game.
