Unfortunately, Yuji Naka‘s last video game project, Balan Wonderworld, didn’t do that well. The game released on the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC earlier this year, in March. Since then, he is no longer a part of Square Enix. However, he’s not done making games yet.
Late last week, Yuji Naka celebrated his 55th birthday. He responded to all the birthday messages from fans on Twitter by announcing that he’s “studying programs again”, and that he’s “making a simple game for smartphones with Unity”. He says that “it’s not a big deal because it’s made by one person, but programming for making games is fun. I hope you can play the app”. His tweet about the matter is down below.
At least he did his best on Balan WonderWorld since its his only shot on making the game more successful. I mean, can’t say that I blame him for his hard work.
I want to continue the campaign to attempt to keep big the cat and omochao from appearing on future sonic games unless they are ports. We need cream the rabbit back as well as sticks the badger, Babylon rogues and Tikal.
“Unfortunately, Yuji Naka‘s last video game project, Balan Wonderworld, didn’t do that well.”
Did you mean to say that the game they made was of very poor quality?
Why not both?
Great! Don’t care! Don’t even own the device to play it on.
I am curious now…
Would Balan have been received differently were it a mobile-only game?
Nowadays, Yuji Naka has nothing to do with that.
Might as well talk to SEGA and Takashi “Avery” Iizuka.
