Nintendo announces Advance Wars 1+2 Re-Boot Camp will now launch Spring 2022

Nintendo of America has announced this afternoon that the long-awaited reboot of Advance Wars 1+2, which was originally due to launch on Nintendo Switch in December will now come to the console in spring 2022. The company says that Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp needs a little more time in the oven for fine tuning and presumably they will share a new release date nearer the time. That means that the big two Christmas games for the Nintendo Switch will be Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Pokemon Shining Pearl.

  1. A bit strange that it’s being delayed only just a bit more than a month out, but hopefully this ensures the game’s quality. Looking forward to trying these games out finally.

  2. That’s fine and all, but no one made them announce it in the first place. It was a surprise announcement that got mostly good reception. Could have waited to announce it if they weren’t sure it would be ready. Hope this reignites the franchise.

    1. I agree. I feel they announced this reboot earlier since they may not have felt their line-up of announcements for their Direct would have met the expectations/demands of the player (plus investors). It’s one of those things where it’s damned if they do – damned if they don’t.

With that said, I’m also looking forward to getting my hands on this game when it does finally release sometime early next year in Q1!

      1. This might be the case, but I feel it’s more likely the case that they were reaching a deadline and realized they wouldn’t finish on time. The game is being made from the ground up, so they have a lot of work they have to put into the development of the game to keep it faithful while still Advancing (ay) the overall feel for a remake. In the end I’m glad the game exists at all. Not only does it look fun for a newcomer like me, but it also gives me a golden ray of hope for another GBA franchise to return

        1. Yes, deadlines being missed are never a good thing in any industry. I can’t imagine the level of energy/effort the developers had to put into this game already. I’m just glad it’s coming out soon (even with the delay)

  3. I for one am glad. There are just too many games I need to finish in Q4 like Pkmn BDSP and SMTV In addition to my backlog which includes Warioware GIT and Mario Golf and NEO TWEWY.

  4. I’ve put more hours into the Advance Wars franchise than any other gaming franchise, including my beloved Zelda franchise. Was highly looking forward to this one since it was announced. A little disappointed that I won’t get to play it this year. But, I like that Nintendo’s never been afraid to delay games just to make sure that they are fully completed, and good. Just like they did with the Wii U launch title Pikmin 3, which they delayed like 6 or 9 months, or whatever, just to make sure it was fully completed and done well. So, I never have a problem with Nintendo delays, as they always put out quality stuff, and I know the delay is to ensure a high quality product.
