Square Enix says Nier: Automata for Switch runs at 30fps, 1080p docked and 720p handheld

We found out yesterday during the Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase that Square Enix is bringing Nier Automata to the Nintendo Switch family of systems in October. Today, the company has outlined the game’s resolution and framerate. They are targeting 30ps with Nier Automata and with regards to resolution they are targeting 1080p when the Switch is docked and when the Switch is in handheld mode they are targeting 720p. Of course this is the highest resolution available in both modes, so we shall have to wait nearer to the game’s release on 6th October to see if they hit their targeted resolution for Nier Automata.

    1. do you want an unstable experience if they bumped the framerate to 60fps and rez to like 700p docked, 360p undocked or do you want a stable experience with high rez? i prefer stable frames over rez just as long as it still looks good enough on the console but thats just me and all the others that prefer stable frames.

  1. It’s not bad if it keeps the framerate stable, i’m guessing it will use some kind of checkerboard rendering.

I’m actually more surprised with the fact it’s not a cloud version, they went the lazy route with KH1/KH2 but are making a native port for this one.
