Sonic Frontiers rated in South Korea

official sonic frontiers logo

Sonic Frontiers has recently been rated in South Korea which means that the 3D Sonic game will be coming out this year as planned. Initially a portion of the Sonic fanbase managed to get the hashtag Delay Sonic Frontiers trending on Twitter when the debut gameplay footage of Sonic Frontiers was showcased by IGN. Sonic Team however have said that they have no intention of delaying it and fans really need to play it to understand it. Since then we have learned that the debut Sonic Frontiers footage was based on an older build of the game and the later build, which was shown off by Game Informer, thankfully looked a bit better. Still, we won’t know how Sonic Frontiers is until the reviews come out near release. Sonic Frontiers has a rating of A (all ages)

  1. Its like knowing there’s going to be a train-wreck and there’s no way to stop it. Its frustrating to see a potentially great game go up in smoke simply because Sega refuses to delay the game and focus on releasing a fully polished product, rather they’re far more concerned to meet that holiday release date. This is going to be a disaster. I hope I’m wrong, it would be much better if I were very wrong about all this, but sadly I know I’m probably not…

    1. The issue here isn’t about SEGA releasing a “fully polished product”. The issue here is that the product itself has no real value whatsoever. If Forces, Lost World, or Boom was fully polished, it still wouldn’t change the fact that the games themselves were terrible.

This is like polishing a rock in the hopes that it’ll shine like a gem, crystal, or contain minerals, which it never will because it’s just a rock. They can polish and improve it in regards to the visual, technical, and gameplay aspects as much as they want, but at the end of the day that just makes it a pretty rock and nothing more.

      1. Got a point. I mean the realistic visuals clash with the Sonic assets. The mini games break up the action and don’t blend with the rest of the gameplay. The enemies are devoid of any personality and combat with them seems incomplete. The world while semi pretty is also bland and lifeless like they felt just having a nice landscape would be all that was needed. I could go on, but you get the idea. This game sorely lacks vision.

        1. You nailed that right on the coffin. The core concept of the series is speed, so who in the world thought it would be a great idea to have puzzles and mini-games constantly interrupt that fast-paced gameplay? We’re basically just speedrunning in an empty sandbox with an occasional enemy every now and then….

I’ve been clowning Sonic Team since day 1, but I really can’t help but feel like something’s off with them. These are obvious and blatant amateur mistakes they’re making for a franchise they have like what, 2 decades of experience with? Something’s not right.
