By now, you’re likely aware about some news of Sonic Frontiers, including a “new look”, that will be taking place at Gamescom Opening Night Live 2022, which occurs on August 23rd. However, once the broadcast is over, Gamescom itself is only just beginning.
SEGA has announced on their Twitter account that attendees can play the game at Gamescom, at SEGA’s stand at Hall 9. There is another area to play the game at TikTok’s stand in Hall 7. Here, there will also be an exclusive meet and greet with Sonic Team head Takashi Iizuka on August 25th. SEGA’s tweet about the matter is down below.

I know this is very negative of me to think but why do I have a feeling, 1 of these days, someone is gonna play a Sonic Game at an event like this and say something along the lines of “This sucks, you need to delay it” and someone from SEGA just loses it and goes on massive tantrum about how they don’t understand game development and how they should keep their opinions to themselves?
I mean, SEGA hasn’t exactly released a positively received Sonic game for a while so they’ve gotta have a lot of insecurities by now.
Maybe they are trying to get themselves to understand the quality of gaming this time.
If they don’t understand their own product during the development phase then what should we expect from them?
In other words, at this point they should have their act together.
The clergy of the Church of Sasori wants to expose sonicgalaxy27 the deceiver for spreading such lies.
Sonic team has never been trying to understand quality of gaming and it’s a fact.
Disco, soon we will know if this game will end years of your suffering…
If this doesn’t happen, you can always look for permanent “solutions”…
You know, there’s no suffering in the afterlife.

Now I want to see an article someday that brings us news of this actually happening! Lol
if i were them i’d not hold a meet and greet with the infamous lizuka, at least until it’s confirmed that the game doesn’t suck…but that’s me.
Sega is too stuborn to listen to the franchise fan, the fan want Sega to delay the game to fix it many issues, but Sega/Sonic Team is too stuborn to listen to reason
Sonic frontiers won’t be the game of the year, it’ll be the trainwreck of the century
Sonic struggling to adapt to 3D was acceptable through and including the PS3, X-Box 360, Nintendo Wii era. Even that is somewhat lenient to be honest. But 3D has been a standard now for multiple generations and the fact that Sega still proves they don’t know how to adapt Sonic into this space is embarrassing at this point.
Sonic Frontiers in every ad and gameplay footage I’ve seen is a clear sign they are about to have another garbage game. Its sad too, as an open world Sonic game done right could have been a lot of fun. Imagine a layout somewhat similar to Sonic Robo Blast, but more ambitious and levels are larger in scope with multiple pathways on the X,Y, and Z axis allowing multiple runs through a level to offer a different experience each time you play it. This could have been a turning point for Sonic.
What did we get instead? Beautiful landscapes that clash with Sonic and his springs, grind rails and other usual assets. Enemies with zero personality that require multiple hits which slow the pace of the game down which conflicts with Sonic’s signature speed. Third grade puzzles that don’t challenge the player in the slightest and also bring the game to a halt to unlock more pretty yet bland running space with very little to interact with. Springs and grind rails that are oddly suspended in mid air without being held up with any kind structure despite the realistic setting and open world nature allowing the player to see this abomination from a distance like “what’s that squiggly line off in the distance”. Admittedly, if this were a fan project it would be very impressive, but this is hilariously the actual next Sonic game. If I were in charge I would fire the whole team! This abomination is not ready for distribution and the fact they think its ready for sale this year tells me the Sonic Team is a colossal failure of a development team and really need to hire people that know how to properly make a good game. This game will be remembered as one of Sonic’s worst outings and I wish it weren’t.
expect ssf1991to do the damage control in sega’s behalf.
