The latest Japanese physical video game software and hardware charts have come through and was an unusual week during 22nd August, 2022 to 28th August, 2022. The top ten mainly consisted of PlayStation games with a grand total of seven games between the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 in the top ten. The best-selling game was the latest game in the Earth Defence series, Earth Defence Force 6, which shifted 68,341 units.
The best-selling hardware was the Nintendo Switch family of systems shifting an additional 113,530 units this week thanks to the new Nintendo Switch – OLED Model Splatoon 3 Edition. However, one of the most interesting thing this week is the continued increases in sales for the Xbox Series X|S consoles in Japan (16,726 units sold this week) where traditionally the Xbox brand hasn’t faired very well. Here’s the best-sellers this week in the land of the rising sun.

So next week sales in Japan will be interesting
🎵Where in the money. Where in the money🎵
7 PS games in the top 10. Haven’t seen that in a long while
I’d complain but then i remembered that the Switch has dominated the JP software sales for the longest time so this is a nice change of pace.
