Bayonetta voice actress Hellena Taylor has changed her story from $4K to $15K

The Bayonetta voice acting saga has been going on for the past few weeks and the original voice actress for Bayonetta, Hellena Taylor, has decided to tweet today changing her story to clear up any confusion which has had the end result of adding more confusion to the situation. Hellena now says that she was offered a maximum $15,000 for voicing Bayonetta in Bayonetta 3 which is more than the $4,000 she initially stated in her video. One thing this saga has shown though is that voice actors and actresses usually aren’t paid a lot for doing voice work for big video games, not just Bayonetta, but countless other lucrative games. You can read her new messages down below.

  1. It’s going to take some people a while to realize to not look up to people and believe in almost everything they say on twitter, I seen multiple YouTuber who’s are pretty nice and decent on camera in the videos but their social media is yet a different story it’s like they share two different personas , all she did was shorthand the truth and drag another voice actor, while not caring about the people who poured their heart in soul into the music art and programming and etc telling them to boycott them and donate it to some charity instead of specifying, this was disgusting the fact that she even had the audacity to do this after she declined the role herself.

    1. The most disgusting part of this when she tries to make it seem like $15,000 for two weeks of work is a real struggle, give me a break. It’s one thing if she feels like the role of Bayonetta is worth more, but trying to push this narrative is very dishonest. If you were to talk about this to someone who is living paycheck to paycheck at a painstaking job they’d laugh at you in your face. It’s just one lie after another with her. If she wasn’t truly worried about making a living before then she should be now because who is going to want to hire somebody who will put you on full blast on social media with a dishonest narrative to make the situation seem way worse than what it actually is?

    2. Its going to be a little harder for people to believe her entire store and she is basically trying to protect her career from any false statements that people mention in her twitter post comments. Its a shame that she changes her story for the very last minute just to make up a good excuse.

  2. I can’t take her seriously. She laments over “asking for a fair, living wage”, but the reality is that she was asking for six figures. That is way more than a “fair living wage”, it’s greed. Don’t even get me started about how $15,000 for a single gig should make it really easy for her to live on if she was planning to do more gigs in the year like any normal voice actor would.

    1. You have to understand her point of view though. If she can get this gig for 100k, and get it done within a month. She now made 100k in a month, and she can now ask for more with her other VA work.

Now she’s making 1.2 M a year. She becomes so on demand, that by the time Bayo4 get announced, she asks for $200k but Platinum says no, that she deserves much better and they offer her 250k for that game. So she starts asking for a quarter for every gig.

Now she’s making 3M a year. But this much amount of work, she has no time for everything else in life, and even though she’s ridiculously wealthy, the one thing she can’t afford is time, at least no indirectly. So she decides to clone herself.

So goes ahead and does it, but doesn’t realize that with the current technology, the clinic g process is an embryo that will will take 9 months to develop, and then 18 years to grow and legally be able to grow. So shes now stuck with more responsibility.

She cuts back on work, and is now only making 1 million a year. But because she’s been turning down work, developers are noticing that other can do her work, and for a cheaper premium.

As the years pass, and she’s waiting for her clone to grow, she’s fading into obscurity. Doing gigs for ‘Del Taco’ and the new singing voice for ‘1-800- Kars 4 Kidz” but things are looking better as her clones 18th bday is withing days.

Now finally Helena2.0 is 18, so both of them go to platinum games and demand to see Kamiya so they can do the VA for Bayo9. After hours of waiting, Kamiya comes out, looks at them dead in the eyes, and says, Hellena who?

  3. So the offer for $4000 wasn’t the first offer but rather their final offer. So what she said was technically true, but she left out the initial offers (and claimed the $4000 was the only offer I think), which means she told half truths during her videos. For some people half truths are still lies, so this still sucks.

It also confirms for me a bit that she was very emotionally charged during her videos since it’s easy to leave out key parts when you’re high on emotions and feel like you’re voice is vindicating something. Emotions and logic don’t mix well, so I can see a line of thinking being close to “they offered me X amount at first, but their final offer for me was the smaller Y amount. I’ll only talk about Y because that’s true and not my worth”.

This situation sucks more than I thought

    1. If I told you that my neighbor beat me up, you would sympathize with me. But if I told you that they beat me up after i tried to break into their house, that would be a different story. If half truths were good enough, they would just be called truths.

  4. She was only working for 20 hrs. $4000 is still $200/hr, which is well beyond a livable is well beyond a livable wage. She just wanted to work for one week and not have to again for the next 2 to 3 years.

  5. With all due respect to this lady, go away. This story needs to die. You’re upset, we get it. Life is hard. It’s a free market, and her role in the game obviously won’t make or break the game enough to pay her a ton of money. That’s life.

Get over it. And move on.

  6. Tbf voice actors should be payed more especially for the starring role in a high profile game that’ll certainly push a lot of copies but she really should’ve been upfront with the truth

    1. At that point, just get Chris Pratt to do it. If you pay for a premium, get a premium actor to do it. I would definitely buy a bayo3 is Christ Pratt was voicing her lol

  7. Im just gonna sit back and eat some popcorn and watch as this unfolds, this is more entertaining then The Young and The Restless or some other afternoon soap opera drama. Let’s all head on over to The Twitter and air are dirty laundry.

  8. Some things can be a huge struggle if you asked me. Its just a shame that she change her story just to protect her career from any false statements whatsoever. Not against her really. I still get the picture of this whole situation.

  9. I think the root of her issue is that she VASTLY over estimates the value of the Bayonetta franchise, and thought she should/could get more money out of it (especially if the claims of her wanting 100k were true).

I have zero idea where she got the idea that the Bayonetta franchise is a 450 million dollar franchise. I searched the web, and the best people could come up with was that she must have taken the total sales and multiplied it by 60$, but even that would require the franchise to have sold 7 million when it has only 3 million. And of course that is an awful methodology to begin with. Developers don’t get to just pocket every dollar of a sale, and it completely ignores sales/bargain bin offers that go well below 60$.

The games may be published by Nintendo now, but that doesn’t change the fact that the games probably don’t have that high of a budget. They don’t sell anything crazy and Platinum is not a particularly wealthy company. Bayonetta almost died as franchise because SEGA didn’t see it as financially viable.

  10. Hell, give me $4000 to voice just a few lines in half a day.

Side note, this should do away with the theories that Platinum was lowballing her just to make her quit. You don’t offer $4000 to the person who just quit for brief cameo if you’re wanting to end a professional relationship

  11. I’m still on her side, for the leading voice in a triple a game like this, 15k is chump change. idc if its 4 hours or 400 hours of work, they can and should pay more. 15k is a drop in the bucket for these guys.

    1. 15k is NOT a drop in the bucket for these guys, what are you talking about? Bayonetta is AA not AAA. PlatinumGames is not a big studio. More importantly, if they really had this much money lying around, I’d rather see it go to the people who actually work 40 hours a week for years, not a single voice actor who comes in for a week and then leaves.

      1. what does the average person have to do with this? this isnt an average job. AA or AAA is irrelevant in my opinion. they have sold millions of copies of bayonetta games, and she is the lead role. why should she get payed the same as some average joe shmoe. just because the average worker wont ever make that much doesnt mean nobody should be able to ask for it. I personally would feel ripped off for 15k. thats like not even 3 months of living expenses for me. she deserves royalties or more pay or something imo. I think she deserves to get payed well.

        1. The AA vs. AAA DOES matter when you say “15k is chump change”. Smaller teams have smaller budgets. “Millions of sales” doesn’t mean you have money flying around everywhere. Games are expensive to make and some games have to make far more than what the Bayonetta series has ever made just to break even.

More importantly, how on earth is 15k for what amounts to only a weeks worth of work so bad? It’s not like we’re talking about an annual salary here. What is so terrible about one week of work translating to 3 months of living? I have to work for 3 weeks to amount to 3 months of living, and I’ve got a pretty high paying job. This amount is well over what the SAG-AFTRA union considers acceptable.

          1. Listen i know my opinion is hard to take, but i still believe she deserves more money than 15k. regardless if the industry standard is chump change. they can afford to pay more and they should in my opinion.

          2. For myself, an annual salary of $15k sounds pretty darn good. I may be “The Collector”. But nearly everyone seems to have more money than me. I can tell that even by the vehicles everybody drives.

  12. Wow 15k? I cant believe they wanted to pay her that little. You would think that being the lead voice actress in an established series like this would have wages that were worth writing home about.

  13. Surprise, surprise, she was lying. Quick, everyone, act surprised!

Well, where are the “soulless corporation” people now? It was OBVIOUS she was lying from day one.
Seriously, people now are simping for VOICE ACTORS? Is there any limit for what people will simp for? Is this really the simp generation?

  14. Man, this makes her seem even more greedy and spoiled than I already thought she was when she complained about $4,000. Fortunately for me, I don’t care who the voice actress is, because I think the Bayonetta games SUCK! Definitely not my cup of tea.
