Sonic Frontiers on Switch apparently uses AMD’s FSR image upscaling

Sonic Frontiers could be joining some of Nintendo’s first party games in taking advantage of AMDs open source FSR image upscaling technique. Several other games on the Nintendo Switch use the technology including Nintendo’s very own Nintendo Switch Sports and Splatoon 3. Square Enix’s recent Nintendo Switch port of Life is Strange: True Colours also uses the technology. It is likely that Sonic’s latest 3D adventure uses FSR 1.0 which is Spatial Upscaling, rather than the more advanced and more costly FSR 2.0. The technology gives a slight visual boost without jeopardising the performance. Sonic Frontiers launches on Nintendo Switch and other platforms on Tuesday, 8th November.

  1. I brought sonic forces today because my mom is an idiot who lost my previous copy of the game. I’m literally the only person in my family who’s willing to spend money on video games.

  2. Bought. Not brought.

That’s horrible. Your “idiot” mommy lost your video game and now you have to spend YOUR OWN MONEY to buy your own copy like everyone else in the universe has to? You’ve got it rough, man. At least you got a chance to degrade your mother online!

    1. aren’t you the person who commented as shuhei yoshida?

I remember that some anon using :) as a user name used to constantly praise that fake shuhei.

          1. Don’t mean to interrupt your fun, but who the hell is this lol. I’m not even getting the game on Switch. I’ll play it on PC.

I rarely comment nowadays. Wasn’t aware I had some kind of fan club. It’s honestly kind of amusing. Maybe I’ll play along and see how in character he is.

            I’d give a B so far.

              1. No, I know who you are. I mean the guy you were replying to isn’t me if you haven’t noticed, lol.

I could change my picture if I wanted to, it’s just amusing I read an article for the first time in a while and see someone role playing as me in the comments.

It must be one of the old regulars here, but I’ll just play along for now.

                  1. He got you good. Funny thing is this isn’t even the first time. Doesn’t really matter much now, though. This site will never be like it used to.

A lot of old regulars, myself included, have faded into obscurity. And it’s much less active on top of that.

No one really cares if you were to role play as me, Nintendo Commander, or whoever, lol.

    1. What is there to sink in? Your talking about a lightweight handheld. The switch holds its own in the weight/size versus graphics quality. Even steam deck is comparitavely LARGE, Heavy and powerhungry. You seen how much heat and power a PS5 or PC uses in comparison? Of course the switch is oging to need grpahical downscaling.
