Japanese development studio Vanillaware‘s, president and director George Kamitani, has announced in a newly published interview that their latest project is fast approaching completion and Mr. Kamitani says “it is one of Vanillaware’s biggest productions.” The new video game from the studio features a medieval fantasy aesthetic, which can be seen in the game’s teaser trailer. It seems likely that the new project from the team at Vanillaware will be released at some point this year.
Finally, can you give us any hint about your next original work? It will be a masterpiece for sure! I have no doubt that it will be a masterpiece!
“In March of 2019, for reasons I won’t go into [likely related to development troubles], we sold only the prologue for 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim, but it did include a video of the next title in it. And now, that is finally finished. I am not the director of that title, but it is one of Vanillaware’s biggest productions, so please look forward to it.
The title I am working on will not be completed for several years yet, but once that big one is completed, I should get some development staff, so development on my project will finally go into full swing.”
I’m excited. Also, I really hope they get around to porting Muramasa (and DLC) to modern platforms. Such a beautiful game!
My thoughts exactly, that game was done dirty wrong and deserves a re release, especially on the switch since it originally released on the wii before being upgraded with an expansion on the vita only.
Would be nice if Vanillaware would stop messing around and finally port Muramasa Rebirth, Odin Sphere Leifthrasir, and Dragon’s Crown to the switch.
I already own these games on ps4 and pstv but would prefer to own and play them on the switch because these games did not get the attention they deserved on Sony’s platform and I promise these games would sell a heluva lot better on switch than they did on ps3, ps4, and vita because these games are designed with switch owners in mind.
It seems the production isn’t the only thing that’s big about this game.
Glad to see Jaded’s still alive.
