  1. Sony is so petty, that if the switch ever over takes the PS2 in life time sales, they would release a PS2 mini, and count those sales towards lits life time sales 🤣

      1. Releasing it wouldn’t be petty, it’s actually expected of them to release it, what I’m saying would be petty is them adding those numbers to the life time sales of the PS2 just to make the PS2 the highest selling console of all time again. To my knowledge, Nintendo didn’t do that with the NES or SNES.

    1. The PS2 is not as great of a seller as people think. It was on the market for 12 years before production was stopped. The switch has only been out 6 years and is 30 million u it’s away from breaking that record. They will have that record in 2 more years most likely, right before release of their next console.

      1. I’m of the strong believe that the PS2 only prospered because everyone failed. Yes, the PS2 had great games, but not like everyone makes it out to be. It was a cheap DVD player with a handful of great games and not all aged well. The GameCube killed itself, the dreamcast killed isltself, and the XBOX was the new kid that no one trusted. The PS2 won by default, but I get called a fanboy whenever I bring up that point. 🤷 I say all of that to say, that I agree with you.

        1. Demi – you are just talking utter nonsense now. It released over 23 years ago – of course it wont age like fine wine.
Selling over 158 mil units is not default – its a landslide.
Gamecube was a disaster for a few reasons. Nintendo did not move with the times with 64 being cartridge based. They could not shake the “kiddy” image and the disks actually put off 3rd party support. Also, the cube lacking in multimedia features is one of the reasons PS2 was a success, its was a draw for a more mature demographic.

          1. That’s exactly it, the gamecube was a disaster. It killed isltself. So did the dreamcast, and the Xbox was nobody. The PS2 had no competition. The mature console wasn’t the PS2, that was the Xbox, it marketed like that as well. And it had more features than both the GCN and PS2 combined. But we all know that it wasn’t picked over the PS2, so that’s not the reason it won over the other 3. Oooh bs, don’t give me that. The SNES is even older and all of its top selling games aged very well. Some are still deemed masterpieces to today’s standards. Like I said, PS2 won by default. I’m not saying it didn’t move more units, but when the competition is sabotaging itself, you dont have to complete. And yes, it was a landslide, no one is denying that, but I have a feeling you don’t know what “won by default” means.
