Nintendo Switch firmware updated to Version 16.0.3 (patch notes)

Lately, Nintendo hasn’t really been doing much with the Switch’s firmware. The last few updates, including the version 16.0.0 update, contained very little new additions. However, if you’re a fan of Nintendo’s stability improvements, then you’ll be happy to know that there has certainly been a lot of that.

Well, another firmware update that has released tonight is no exception. It puts the console’s firmware at version 16.0.3. As for the official patch notes, once again, the only thing Nintendo mentions is that there are “general system stability improvements to enhance the user’s experience”.

Ver. 16.0.3 (Released May 8, 2023)

  1. “However, if you’re a fan of Nintendo’s stability improvements” not y’all becoming self aware 💀😭 they probably just remove some offensive names people have been trying to fit in system, also try to fight the homebrew team as they usually do, but I feel like it might have something to do with tears of kingdom leaking early and being dump online

    1. Yeah that might have something to do with it and Nintendo is stopping streamers and gamers for recording unreleased content of there games online. Sometimes, I just wish some streamers and gamers could at least keep some things to themselves instead of sharing the story cutscenes and soundtracks online on both YouTube and Twitch to others. Now Nintendo is taking extreme measures against them since they decided to take the risk on getting there accounts suspended or terminated. It means they ignore theres warnings and there policy’s.

Not everyone has something they have. Think of it this way. Its just not fair for all superheroes to have superpowers. Not all heroes have superpowers. You can still be a hero even without superpowers. It’s just a common nature honestly and that’s how it is.

      1. Easy fix. Don’t watch those twitch streamers. No one is making you watch them. A lot of streamers play games on twitch to not only make a living but to play with their community. Why would they play a game but share just half the game, just the gameplay? Leaks are easily avoided if you stay off social media and also only follow websites like this that won’t spoil stuff for you. I am one of the people that enjoys seeing a whole game on twitch. It might be something that I can’t play due to a system issue or not super interested into it but it’s nice to still experience the game.

        1. Yeah they are easily to avoid even so I don’t want much streamers play online, but that doesn’t stop Nintendo for doing the same thing as they always do to streamers and gamers. Nintendo is just giving them discipline for spoiling things to young gamers like us. They don’t want them leaking the whole content towards people who didn’t got the game yet.

They want them to experience it themselves which Nintendo want to see fans being excited for it. The only thing gamers and streamers cares about is to get revenues, views and subs within hours in one day.

  2. You know, I’m starting to get really bored of the stability improvements for the Switch. I’m still wondering why Nintendo continues to do this each month in the half. It’s just very common that what Nintendo added or fix for the update.

    1. I agree with you, Kyoshi. Nintendo took a huge nosedive when they moved on from the Wii U to the Switch. /s

      1. The Wii U was a better console with more features. It was Nintendo’s fault that it failed. They found success again with the Switch but that doesn’t mean they are all of a sudden wonderful again.

        1. “The Wii U was a better console with more features.”

          No. Just… no.

I bought a Wii U at launch. I appreciate it greatly and see it as a what had to happen before they refined the idea that lead us to the Switch.

I’m not saying it was a bad console, but it was when Nintendo really had to humble themselves a bit and learn some important lessons with the biggest one being that you NEED software to support your console. The 3DS was a flop when it first released but turned it into Nintendo’s greatest handheld imo. It’s because they released it with hardly any games and then suddenly jumpstarted it with a ton of great games. But this lead them to neglect the Wii U as it was coming out (and they underestimated the workload of transitioning to HD). This is ultimately why the Wii U flopped.

But then they consolidated their development teams and we got the Switch. They launched with Zelda and it’s been a steady release of great games. And, it’s worth noting, the “gimmicks” of the 3DS and Wii U were a bit underwhelming. But they realized what people enjoyed most about the Wii U and made it a full hybrid console so the Switch ALSO has a good “gimmick” in addition to it’s software library.

Has it been perfect? No. I can understand why a Wii U owner could be a disappointed with the Switch at times. A good chunk of the software has been (good) Wii U ports so that is less exciting. The NSO replacing the VC was a little disappointing (personally, I’m coming around to NSO especially after the closing of the Wii U and 3DS eshops). And there is no Miiverse or web browser… although, you could argue that Miiverse was really only good when it was a Wii U exclusive. Well, whatever the case… I feel like you could only say the Wii U was a better console if you are wearing some thick, rose-tinted glasses.

Personally, I think the Switch is better. Software releases have been better, 3rd party support has been better, the “gimmick” is very useful, and it’s honestly been nice to take a break from gameplay that revolves around touch screens and second screens.

  3. My Switch was on sleep mode and it was sitting in my lap when it suddenly updated. The kickstand extended right into my testicles when the update installed. Ouch.

  4. Why not :(
Switch is for nothing in future because switch body is with soft plastic and cardridges too. Mine gameboy from 1982 no problem work in 2042! But modern hardware like switch oled (i buy in 1/2023) is trash and i dont trust sama model run in 2030. Ruined joycons with drift especialy :(..
I Pay no problem 600eur for switch pro with old time hrad plastic and durable buttons!

  5. I wish that the next update would stop people from using the same name as the original user. Like, I had one person copy my Switch name and pfp at one point and I was like, “Stop impersonating me.”

  6. Please if you do the next update make sure there is going to be nice game themes and a music melody on the screen thank you.
