Nintendo Switch firmware updated to 16.0.0 (patch notes)

It has been almost 4 months since Nintendo has updated the firmware of the Nintendo Switch. Obviously, the holiday season had a role to play in that. However, another reason is that Nintendo did technically release an update of some kind during that 4 month period, courtesy of a “rebootless” update that was launched in mid-December.

That said, Nintendo has decided to release a firmware update tonight. Once you update, your console’s firmware should be at version 16.0.0. As for the patch notes, you may be surprised to hear that they don’t really have much. You can see them in full down below, nevertheless.

  • User nicknames that cannot be used will be replaced with “???” which can be updated from the profile settings.
  • General system stability improvements to enhance the user’s experience.

    1. Unless they just flat out make them available towards it’s drought stage when their successor starts making ita way through I don’t see it happening, I mean we still don’t have Netflix and a browser.

  1. Not really worried about The Switch having themes and just having the default white or blk available. I’ve used plenty of themes on PSN and the dynamic themes with bgm cause frame rate drops, screen tearing, pixel dots etc It’s not worth the headache honestly unless you use a custom theme just a screen shoot. Having themes is generally a nice concept, however with all the issues they can cause im not sure i’d want themes for The Switch. The standard or custom themes are usually fine, it’s when you start using dynamic themes when the issues start.
