A little more than a month ago, Nintendo officially released an update to the Nintendo Switch firmware. The update put the firmware at 16.0.0, but it surprisingly didn’t do much. Nevertheless, it was only a matter of time before the next update would be releasing.
Sure enough, a new update has been released tonight. Once you update, your Nintendo Switch console should be at version 16.0.1. As for the patch notes, they don’t mention very much. In fact, the only thing Nintendo says is that there were “general system stability improvements to enhance the user’s experience”.

We ain’t ever getting a major switch update anymore it’s the new “3ds stability” 💀💀💀
Yeah, it sure seems like it. People are trying to figure out why Nintendo is still doing this since we didn’t get any major updates on the Switch as of yet.
6 years later and still no themes
Its just nintendo catering to the “woke cult” thats currently infesting our lives now!
“Woke cult”? You realise Nintendo is played by MILLIONS of kids, right?
This is, by all means, nothing but a terrible argument and the fact you are using the terms “woke cult” and “infesting our lives” really says it all about what type of person you are.
“Woke” is only used to disregard anything that people haven’t got a good argument against.
Becoming as useless as any word with
-ist and -phobe.
I thinknhe is going too far with the woke cuot thing. Especially since this is a conservative Japanese company. Though “Woke” is pretty toxic and many good arguments against many woke topics. They are people who even consider themselves “woke.” but for this, article, it’s just silly to mention woke cult.
What the hell are you even talking about? Lmfao 🤣
Apparently just some changes to the bad words list.
I was hoping “netflix” compatability 🤣
Can we just get themes and some decent browse functionality for the eShop already?
Imagine the eShop at more than 3fps
On wifi it’s 3fps, wired it’s 5fps yet somehow it’s faster than the PS4 storefront plus download speeds are faster than the PS4.
Music for the Mii Maker would be nice. On the Wii, Wii U and 3DS the Mii Maker is lighthearted and fun partly because of the jaunty music. On the Switch it is cold and sterile and utilitarian – very un-Nintendo – because it lacks both visual and audible stimuli that make it fun. Add that to the lack of themes and you can say, this many years in to a successful system, Horizon OS in general is still about as basic as you can get away with.
I agree with the lack of themes argument but I have a feeling Nintendo, who love easy money from stuff like that, didn’t get around to putting them in because it would likely steal enough RAM and performance (if only a tiny bit) to impact running games, and the Switch being the potato that it is it doesn’t have anything to spare in the first place.
Not hating, I love my OLED Switch and have several others, but it could be a much better product than it is. They were happy to spec bump the New 3DS with extra RAM not just an extra second analogue stick type thing, I’m still not sure why they didn’t do the same with the Switch. 8GB and a newer Tegra generation chip would have made a huge difference, especially to heavy titles like The Witcher 3.
Oh boy a new update to brick our systems right before the new one is set to be announced and released so we have to buy the new one if we want to play games! My god, I never thought I’d see the day where every game company would intentionally attack their customers.
You are the only brick here they have already said you won’t have to buy the new switch for the games it’s like the series x and Xbox one backwards compatible. Did your brick ass comprehend that?
Yes and we are still waiting for the update so we can use Pokémon home
