Super Mario Bros. Movie achieves $1.3 billion globally, now 2nd biggest animated film of all-time

The Super Mario Bros. Movie‘s popularity shows no signs of slowing down as sales have now surpassed $1.3 billion worldwide, which is a phenomenal amount of money, with the film achieving $566 million domestically and $733.9 million internationally. The Super Mario Bros. Movie is now the second biggest animated film of all-time, replacing Disney’s fan favourite Frozen, which has slid to No.3. However, Frozen 2 is still at No.1 with a mighty $1.45 billion. It will be interesting to see if the Super Mario Bros. Movie can eventually surpass that.

      1. That’s been obvious since last year when Dreamworks released The Bad Guys and then Puss in Boots The Last Wish while Sony released Across The Spider-Verse which is easily an instant classic. Disney has fell behind big time and it should be concerning for them when Illumination can release a major $1.3 Billion hit.

  1. While I’m very happy about the success of this movie.
I feel like it’s cheated slightly – being that it is available to purchase for home streaming. Which the other animated movies didn’t have that luxury.
So my assumption here is that this is not 100% cinema ticket sales.

    1. Cheating lol it was already in the millions and breaking box office records in multiple different countries and this was way before Japan got to view it some people even went and watch the movie over 5 times hard to called it slightly cheating when it was already break records before it got home streaming.
