The Twitter leaker who claimed that a new 2D Mario game will be showcased at the rumoured Nintendo Direct this week has informed followers that the game thankfully won’t feature the word “New” in the title. The last mainline 2D Mario game, New Super Mario Bros. U, originally launched on the Wii U in 2012 and was re-released on the Nintendo Switch in 2019 as New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe. Nintendo has yet to confirm when the next Nintendo Direct presentation is.

Maybe it’ll just be called super Mario bros, or super Mario.
We’re only half way through the year so maybe it’ll also release before Christmas.
I’m really intrigued to see how this will look and if there’s a totally new art style!

I wont be like the NEW series because Mario Maker kinda eliminated the NEW series in a way. Its going to be completely new ideas and mechanics we haven’t seen done before that Maker can not re create.
