Nintendo has been incredibly successful with the Nintendo Switch system, but after seven years, talk has naturally turned to the system successor. Speaking to investors, Nintendo president, Shuntaro Furukawa, briefly talked about how they are going to bring users over from the popular Nintendo Switch family of systems to their unannounced next generation hardware and the answer lies with the Nintendo Account system, as users will be able to move their profiles and the game’s tied to it to the next system by signing in with their Nintendo Account. This is exactly what Microsoft has done since the users migrated from the Xbox 360 to Xbox One and Sony since users migrated from PlayStation 3 to PlayStation 4, but it will be new for Nintendo as users weren’t able to move adequately between Wii U and Nintendo Switch.
“As for the transition to next-generation consoles, in the past, hardware was the only way for us to connect with our customers, and we had to rebuild relationships with our customers when hardware became new. On the other hand, with Nintendo Switch, we are now able to connect directly with various customers through Nintendo Account. Nintendo accounts have been created by many people around the world, including those from mobile apps as well as dedicated game consoles, and the number of accounts has reached over 290 million. We are committed to ensuring a successful transition from Nintendo Switch to the next generation of consoles by leveraging Nintendo Accounts.”

I didn’t even know Xbox and PlayStation done something like this before for there recent consoles. Sounds pretty impressive to me. I wouldn’t mind having that kind of feature on bored on a Nintendo system.
They’ve been doing this since the PS3 and 360…
Sounds only natural. Since accounts are tied to a subscription now, they’ll want to retain that model for as long as they can.
I’ve had the same PSN account since the beginning of the PS3 era, everything carries over including trophies and even players on your block list and the friend list because it’s all stored on Sony servers not a hdd. Nintendo will most likely implement a feature for the Switch successor that lets players create a new account or sign-in with pre existing account information.
Cant wait for the SwitchU !!!
