Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has been available on the Nintendo Switch for 6 years now. That said, the game has been receiving a lot of downloadable content from Nintendo recently. There have been 5 waves of DLC so far, with the 6th and final one officially slated to release this holiday season. However, none of these DLC waves can be found on a physical cartridge.
Well, that is going to be changing. Amazon Japan currently has a physical cartridge of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe that also has the first 5 waves of the DLC. Unfortunately, the last wave is not included in the cartridge. You will have to input a digital download code for the 6th wave. Nevertheless, you can see a tweet relaying the news down below.

And just like that Mario Kart is going to move and insane amount of unit again.
I expected more from Nintendo, I would have bought again if it had the DLC Preserved Physically
So rather than waiting until the final slc releases they’re gonna release another incomplete physical cartridge.
Also there are conflicting reports about the dlc being on the cartridge because someone else reported none of the dlc will be on the cartridge and in fact this will only have the latest patches on the cartridge while every single dlc will be on a voucher.
Either way this is a deal breaker, I purposely held off buying the dlc because I was hoping we would get a complete version but instead we get this.
Sad part is Nintendo won’t even consider releasing a complete physical version in the west, example Splatoon 2 and Breath of the Wild.
They truly have zero respect for western customers.
The patch data IS the dlc tracks and characters.
Reason ppl who dont own the pass can still race on those tracks online.
With this being the Japanese version and not a worldwide version, I can’t help but wonder if a worldwide release WILL include everything. Dunno why I’m being optimistic about this in particular, but eh maybe it’ll be true
It might have english language since Switch games are region free.
What! Are you actually serious, leave out the last dlc, that’s bizarre.
You’d think that Nintendo would release a special edition once everything’s wrapped up. It would be perfect for collectors and I’d buy straight away.
Leaving out the last DLC is such a poor move.
You can also bet there will be a 3rd iteration of this for Switch 2.
